A popular U.S. senator and an incumbent governor headline a close race, but a feisty conservative activist is gaining ground.
------------------
Last but by no means least is the most conservative of the bunch, Debra Medina. A Republican Party activist and the former Wharton County Republican Party chair, as well as the former state coordinator for the Campaign for Liberty, Medina is an admitted long shot, but she has seemingly pushed an awful lot of the right buttons with her share of likely voters:
A new Rasmussen Reports poll revealed a significant shift to Medina among likely Texas primary voters. She now stands at 12%, up considerably from November:

Under 20% equals a spoiler.
Perry has been Governor for 10 years. Please explain why he needs to run for yet another term. He’s also more of a big-gov’t socon.
“Last but by no means least is the most conservative of the bunch, Debra Medina.”
...most conservative???
;-)
The demographics of Texas are shifting rapidly and the GOP will not be able to could on Texas as a win on the presidential level for too much longer.
With that Texas will be a Battleground State in 2020 and by 2024 be Leaning if not Strong Democrat.
But for today, Texas Conservatives need to support Debra Medina for Governor.
She’s going to do away with gun registration in Texas!
I guess she would have to BEGIN gun registration first, but hey...
I agree, kinda oxymoronic??? right???
The excerpt makes it sound like someone is pushing a Paul protege. Also the writer doesn’t even know the spelling of Hutchison’s last name. Yet he becomes a specialist on Texas politics and elections. Go figure.
If conservatives in Medinas court would do their homework on her they wouldn’t be supporting her at all. Dimwits do that, they get caught up in the hipe or get spoon fed and go along rather than finding out the truth about a candidate. Sheesh!
Exactly. We don’t need Bill White as Gov.
Freepmail me or ping me from the original thread to get on/off the 2010 Texas Governor's Race ping list.
Medina shares the Libertarian position on legalizing drugs. She got elected chairwoman when Ronulans dominated the process and took over the the election in Wharton County. Like a typical Ronulan, she called everyone in the Wharton County organization who didn’t agree with her “country club Republicans.”
Sound familiar?
She’s Ron Paul in a pantsuit.

LOL!
Well, call me a dimwit. Medina’s record looks pretty conservative to me. But then again, I’m a Texas conservative. She wants to do away with property tax and is in favor of sales taxes instead. Real border security. She homeschooled her children. She runs her own small business. Maybe Pennsylvania voters are more conservative than Texans? By the way, I watched both of the Republican Governor debates. What did you think of the debate?
Medina is a fake and would be a disaster.
Yeah, kinda made me giggle as well...
Like I’ve said, the only reason she is even on the map is the Libertarians that have latched onto her coat-tails...
You should see all the “Republicans” in Harris County she has sucked into the fold...
Is it s 33, 45 or 78?
She has no record and her history in politics include too much Ron Paul.
Kinda like the Bill of Needs?
Oh wait, that is the Bill of Rights.
See he has a right to run if he wants to and owes you no explanation.
Votes % Kay Bailey Hutchison 60 2 Debra Medina 2625 91 Rick Perry 121 4
