How else are we going to let the working poor in the Third World follow the path to self-help and investment which led to our own prosperity?

By shooting their scumbag dictatorial governments, using targeted assassinations, then giving the people shovels, guns, and Bibles? /sarc?>

They certainly need to be liberated from corrupt and parasitical govts., but that's not just a matter of killing a few bad guys. New ones would just take their place.

Statistics show that Americans are more productive that almost any other people, but is that because they work harder? No; it's because they are better capitalized. Someone saved and invested so they have machines to increase their prosperity. And the savers were not all Americans. I wonder how many people realize that much of the development of the U.S. in the 19th cent. was financed by foreign investors, chiefly British. Obviously they would not have invested if they knew they didn't have the rule of law and the high ethics of a Christian American population protecting their investment.

Some people here think that certain communities are hopeless. If Korean-Americans thought that about our inner cities, would they go there and start their Mom and Pop stores? The fact that conditions are difficult means that the Koreans have few competitors. Potential entrepreneurs are everywhere. Some just need a little help.
