Basic human right? I’ve lived long enough that the world now seems totally absurd. I shall go lie down.

Cool, and we can hand out 3G-enabled laptops for the homeless, public electrical outlets so they can charge the batteries and all!!!!
What the F. Seriously, the government should assist with BASIC food, BASIC shelter, BASIC medical care and access to public education. Everything else is a luxury item, especially anything that runs on electricity, batteries, or fossil fuels. Enough with the basic rights - I have listed all of them above. Everything else falls under pursuit of happiness - emphasis on the pursuit, which implies effort.

Somebody obviously will have to pay for his “free” access. Likely those of us who currently buy our own broadband service will be taxed so others can get it free. Ain’t this hope and change just great.

The idea by liberals here is to call internet access a “human right” in order to devalue other “human rights”.

Actually, with cell tower broadband replacing wire and cable, this is something even more insidious.
Government claiming credit for something already being accomplished.
AT&T petitioned to get out of the landline business last month. Verizon began following suit this month.
If you turn the lights on you can follow the sleight of hand.

I get such a laugh out of these progressive yokels claiming that such and such or some other thing is a “right”. Tell me who is going to provide for all these new “rights” to be met? Once again we will have to default to only rights that require nothing of someone else. “Rights” cannot incur an obligation in another human being. Period. End of story.

Oh lord won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz.
My friends all drive porsches, I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends.

Oh lord won’t you buy me a color TV.
Dialing for dollars is trying to find me.
I wait for delivery each day until 3.
So oh lord won’t you buy me a color TV.
Oh lord won’t you buy me a night on the town.
I’m counting on you lord, please don’t let me down.
Prove that you love me and buy the next round.
Oh lord won’t you buy me a night on the town.

An innocent child in the womb - no rights. A criminal suckling at the teat of society - air conditioning, internet access, no personal responsibility, and a free home in an upscale neighborhood. Welcome to Liberal Agenda Island.

What about public libraries? Before there was an internet, when books were the major vehicle for dissemination of information, were books all free? No, they weren't. But we did, and do have public libraries. The same concept should apply.
