SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Environmental groups are suing the Navy to halt plans for an offshore training range off the Georgia and Florida coasts, saying the military failed to properly assess the threat to endangered right whales.

The Southern Environmental Law Center filed the lawsuit Thursday in U.S. District Court in Savannah.

Well, Shiver my timbers, They are sticking up for OUR "Right" whales?

Are all the "Left" Whales extinct? I wonder why that might be?,

Ok, why doesn’t the navy settle and agree to everything they want?? Then just submerge,, and play. When you get back, solemnly swear you did just what they demanded.

Unless the environmentalists have a few P-3s and some destroyers, it'll be fine. Do i have to solve EVERYTHING?

I suspect quite strongly that this has precisely nothing to do with whales.

Here the whales are mere props for those who would seek to undermine our military and our defense.

How about those lousy polar bears? Can our military still train near them if they are sitting on an ice berg munching on a seal carcass?

Same as white liberals use Obama as a battering ram against us
He is just a black prop for them to exploit and cynically use against conservatives
Just look at Chissy Matthews act

Libs don't have the cojones to attack directly so they children too as props

I’m not a fan of whales but the Navy has a FANTASTIC sonar and sub range called AUTEC off Andros Island in the Bahamas. The Navy tried up here off NC coast to put this range but we ran them off once the public knew about Andros.

This country is stuck on stupid. I thought this was settled pretty clearly out in California (last year I think) by another groups angry about the sonar used in training?

Researchers estimate as few as 300 of the giant whales remain.

Or as many as 35,000? These lawsuits are nothing more then guaranteed income for trial lawyers win or lose. I have been told that they get payed even for losing because it is for the public good but in most cases the plaintiff settles with them to save time. There are two or three of these suits in Humboldt county every year...

They tried this in California and failed. Its just for publicity, fund raising and to bankrupt the military.

Aloha Smitty.

Now the enviros are going after the Navy in Fla. and Ga.? Tell me true, when was the last time a Navy sub or surface ship had a collision with a whale or it's calf? Sonor......forget it, the whales can pick that up twenty nauts away and avoid it.

Over here, the accidents that happen are caused by the whale watchers on tour boats who get too close the whales. They also happen in areas that naval vessels don't go. Even the local fishermen detour around the calving areas in the winter or put eyes on the bow to spot 'em when transiting to secret fishing spots.

Whales aren't human but they're not dumb. That's a human trait.

Berts law

For every plaintiff lawyer soaking the system, there is an agreeable defendant lawyer feeding at the same trough
