SACRAMENTO (CBS 5 / AP) -
Californians are in a dour mood, with three-quarters of adults believing the state is on the wrong course, according to a poll released Wednesday by the Public Policy Institute of California.
Residents also have little faith that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and lawmakers can work together to solve the state's fiscal problems, but would favor a tax increase if the money was targeted for schools.
"Residents have deep concerns about the economy and their own budgets, and they don't see how California's leaders will help guide the state through these difficult times," said Mark Baldassare, president of the San Francisco-based think tank.
The poll found that 74 percent of Californians believe the state is headed in the wrong direction, compared to 19 percent who said it's doing OK.

I bet the 19% are Mexicans. How could anyone think CA is going in the right direction?
The wrong course..
They’ve perfected this form of navigating.
They head straight for the biggest iceberg.
Blame the legislators and Gub all you want but somebody voted them in..
Stuck on Stupid is Ugly.
Maybe the other 26% work for the government?
You took the words out of my mouth...
Let’s elect Jerry “Moonbean” Brown as governor and more democrapsyep! That’ll fix it!
We in the Golden State might be so "you-know-what"-ed.

California is trying to decide whether it’s the new Michigan or Mexico. Either way, you don’t want to live there. What a sad place it’s become.
The future of the state is in the voters hands. Are they going to continue to go down the same old path and keep electing the tax and spend dimoKKKRATS and RINO’s? If so they well get the same results. The iceberg is dead ahead.
Exactly. Dont forget the white liberals, aside from the mexicans who think CA is “awesome”. My city of L.A. is broke as well.
