One more Democratic senator who has long been regarded as a safe prospect for reelection may be facing a challenging year in 2010.
A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in Wisconsin finds Republican Tommy Thompson edging incumbent Russ Feingold 47% to 43% in a hypothetical U.S. Senate match-up. Five percent (5%) like some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided.
Any incumbent who attracts less than 50% support at this point in a campaign is considered potentially vulnerable.

ROFL
man November can’t come soon enough for me.
He is an absolute socialist dem/lib/prog/pop waste.
Not a huge fan of Tommy, but this is great news. Also, Tommy was responsible for welfare reform even though Clinton took all the credit.
Has Thompson announced he is running?
Now i really hope he jumps into the race
i am tired of these little teases of Rs that can beat weak Dems and then have the Rs not even get into the race like Pence in Indiana
Not yet.
Pence might have good reason to not run for Senate. We need better House leadership.
That’s good to hear, but you are probably a beacon of light in that place. Do you think there are enough like you to knock Russ off?
Absolutely correct. When we retake the House this fall, the one thing we do NOT need is the same old tired leadership. Boehner is NOT Speaker material. Period. The newbies in the GOP caucus can effectively control who gets the Speakership. And I’d love to see Pence in he job.
Now it's the VOTER's turn to dump...
Well....I am on the far western edge of the state...here, the answer would be yes.
Also, if we (conservatives) can have the same voting rights as the dem/lib/prog/pops ("vote early and vote often"), then yes again.
The southeastern area of the state (Janesville) is completely unemployed, so one may assume there are plenty of independent/conservative votes there.
But all of this is countered by the two union/socialist dem/lib/prog/pop areas of greater Milwaukee and Madison.
So...it will be a far closer thing than old Russy thinks...and if we're lucky, we'll fire him in November.
Do you think there are enough like you to knock Russ off?
I think there might be. Wisconsinites are ticked off. Of course Madison and Milwaukee are strong dem bases. Oh, and of course we have the usual nonsense of state line crossers to vote. I know Tommy had stated he wanted to return to Wisconsin and his brother owns a bar somewhere.
My customer was a personal friend of Thompson {not just a political donor}, and Thompson came to our table, introduced himself {to me} and sat and conversed with us for about 5 minutes.
I've done business with other Governors {including the old thief from NY, Cuomo} and never has any been as gracious to me {and I was a complete stranger}.
Thompson made a great impression and while I don't claim to really know him, I like what I saw.
True. But i would love to see someone knock Bayh out of the Senate and the fact that i got teased by such a possibilty only to have it yanked away was a bit disconerting. I hope Hostettler takes him on and wins
I guess this is more of the same anger that swept Obama into office....
Pence has actually said no to running? I missed that
IF they stop the demonrats from letting most of the dead people vote, and IF they stop the demonrats in waiting at our fine colleges from voting 4-5 times each,we just might have a chance!!!
