A law enforcement official says the four men arrested for attempting to tamper with the phones in the New Orleans office of Sen. Mary Landrieu (D) were not trying to intercept or wiretap the calls.

If it was Michael Moore they would have been asking for autographs.
That’s what was reported on O’Reilly about 10 minutes ago
LOL........pretty much yes.
This is always good for a laugh!
tamper? or use?
You don’t get much “discovery” in a federal criminal case under Federal Rule 16. Heck, most of the time you don’t even get witness statements until after the witness testifies (Jencks Act).
Trespass, impersonating phone company employees ... All not so swift if you think about it.
I confess to not knowing much about this, but your post got me to wondering if Mary Landrieu demanded that the Saints make it to the Super Bowl in exchange for her vote for health care. Hmmmmmmm. After watching all the bad calls during that game, I gotta wonder. And I grew up as a Saints fan. We watched them lose week after week. Sounds crazy, but I can believe almost anything would be a bargaining chip with these clowns.
Since Mary Cream Cheese DOESN’T ANSWER her PHONES, this was a way of SHOWING than when a call comes in, the phones aren’t answered!!!
It’s gotta suck to be the State-Run Media these days...
Neither is illegal!
Exactly what I was thinking. Could be false accusations by Landrieu’s staffers. Probably a way overblown story with the charges being dropped in a few weeks.
Sure didn’t look like those guys were in any kind of UNIFORM like what was first reported,,,,that they were inpersonating Telephone employees!!!
The affidavit I read said they were impersonating telephone company employees ... Not sure about the uniform part.
Guessing they REALLY DIDN”T “impersonate”.
This is not your daddy’s FBI.
The normal FBI has been replaced by French poodles on loan from Chamberlain’s relatives. If you want to scare an FBI poodle, mention Hoover.
I think what they were pretending to be Telephone repair people because apparently Landrieus office is impossible to reach by phone. I suspect, and this is a WAG mind you, that in fact the office phones were busied out by the staff. The result of which is that no one can call the office unless they know another number. I suspect they were filming Landrieus receptionist filing her nails, surfing the net and assorted other things rather than take calls.
The “tampering” I suspect was their “repairman” verifying that the phone did in fact work and that if the office CHOSE to, they could take calls at any time yet they had forwarded all calls to voicemail or something of the sort.
Just a guess mind you, and a wild a$$ one at that, but I suspect I am close to the truth on this.
Cheers,

I really like your theory, and definitely could imagine them attempting a silly video stunt, dramatizing “Why isn’t she answering our calls?” with phony repairmen.
Still, a Senator’s office is a dangerous target ... curious if Michael Moore ever attempted hijinks in federal buildings?
What have these men been charged with?
