"Yes," he said, when asked whether closing Guantanamo in the three remaining years of Obama's term was realistic. "I am confident it will be closed under President Obama's first term," he told reporters in Brussels.

"That's one of the reasons we are here. We wanted to brief our European colleagues about our progress," he said after meetings with European Union officials to drum up support for resettlement in the bloc.

Is this the new goal post of closing Gitmo...3 more years? Why doesn't Obama just admit it, Gitmo is useful.

Well, 1 yr... 3 yrs... 7 yrs... 11 yrs... In other words, as long as it is useful, it cannot be closed. What kind of promise is that?

That does promise to be amusing. It is, I assume, too much to expect DUers to come here and apologize for voting for Obama, but it'd be reasonable. Next time, Liberals need to listen to those wiser than themselves and believe conservatives when we say someone is a bad candidate. (and most conservatives I know said McCain was a bad candidate as well, for the record).

Now first term. Like there will be a second one. Tried to sneak that one in there, not accepting their loaded assumption.

He won’t close it. It will remain Bush’s fault.

I’m anxiously awaiting its appearance on the roll of no longer used government properties up for auction. It has a beautiful harbor surrounded by hills; Club Gitmo, here we come!
