Dem Congressman: We're told not to call it a stimulus bill. We're calling it a jobs bill
Washington Times - Water Cooler ^ | 1/27/10 | Kerry Picket

"The other thing I'll point out is we now have...we are working on a...we're told not to call it another stimulus bill. We're calling it a jobs bill. it's similar but smaller and there's a lot of discussion as to what it's best to spend the money on, and I've been pushing for aid to state and local governments. First, because my own state is having such severe problems--and second because from a macro-economic stand-point, we're trying to have jobs now. And construction projects, for example, they talk about them being shovel-ready, but even if you're ready to start building a bridge now, a big chunk of that work is going to be done in 2013, 2014."

Very often, lawmakers get into the ridiculous habit of re-naming horrible legislation in order to put a big pretty bow on upcoming bills that are similarly horrible. In this case, the first stimulus bill, which passed early last year, was pushed by not only the Obama administration but also Democrats on the Hill as the ultimate job creator. Remember the term "shovel-ready" projects that were supposed to create millions of jobs? Here's a "first stimulus" push video reminder from Mr. Obama after his election in 2008.(:45 in):

They are preparing to transfer more taxpayer money to the SEIU and other Obama supporters.

Funneling more money to states and local governments, to prop up underwater pension funds and employee contracts.

This simply will stall the INEVITABLE need to restructure public sector compensation plans. But they won’t say that, because the SEIU/ACORN vote nearly 100% for Obama.

You can put a hat on a pig but it's still a pig...

This so-called "jobs" bill will not create any jobs for the simple reason that the government has never and will never create jobs.

Barak Obama, you’ve got to be kidding me. We should have elected Elvis, at least he served in the military and was born in the USA.

It isn’t intended to do a damned thing to turn the economy around. It is intended to buy votes and to make the people THINK the government is doing something. There is NO WAY that the government can crate a self sustaining job.

The public sector pensions with guaranteed COLA increases are a ticking time bomb.

(We’re told not to call it a stimulus bill. We’re calling it a jobs bill)
Makes no difference. Stimulus did not stimulate anything and what they call a jobs bill will not create any jobs, at least not real jobs..

Call it a puppy. Or a "Pleasant Day at the Beach".

Sure they create jobs...government jobs.

The new Demonrat mantra! Woof, woof, let granny eat dog food...spoof on 'let them eat cake'. obama's war on seniors

See the links in post 43-46 and on the last page.

Expanding support for families balancing work with caring for elderly relatives with a $102.5 million Caregiver Initiative adding $52.5 million in funding to Department of Health and Human Services caregiver support programs that provide temporary respite care, counseling, training, and referrals to critical services. The administration says the extra funding will allow nearly 200,000 additional caregivers to be served and 3 million more hours of respite care to be provided. It also adds $50 million to programs that provide transportation help, adult day care, and in-home services, such as aides to help seniors bathe and cook, help which eases the burden for family members and helps seniors stay in their homes.

I actually had to double check to make sure this wasn’t satire. I thought John might have zinged me.

Sadly, this dunce is serious when he says, “I’ve been pushing for aid to state and local governments... .” Yeah, more GOVERNMENT. That’s the way to fix the economy!

This is beyond insane.
