Democrats have backed off their latest attempt to ram a sweeping health care overhaul through Congress:
Democrats retreated Tuesday from a quick push to pass President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul, lacking a workable strategy to salvage the sweeping legislation that has consumed Congress for more than a year.
“There is no rush,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said after a meeting of Senate Democrats. His comments came as two centrists said they would oppose the plan Democratic leaders were considering to reconcile differences between the House and Senate bills and put comprehensive legislation on Obama’s desk.
But the health care bill is still only mostly dead.

I'm sorry, when you said that "a stake is driven through its heart", I first thought that you were referring to the Pelosi/Reid two-headed monster in this healthcare mess.
It's just a head-fake.
After 70+ years of extraordinary efforts, the "early twentieth century progressives" (Hildabeast's own words) are 1 bribe away from delivering the most important weapon to rule the western hemisphere - completing their takeover of professional health care. Once they have control of the well being of the entire population, everything else they want to do will be a piece of cake.
They will take control over who has access, what they have access to, and mandate procedures from birth to death. Don't want that vaccination? You added extra salt to your burger? You ate some transfat? Access to services are hereby terminated until further notice.
Forget for a moment that the IRS will be the enforcer and government servants will have access to every detail in your entire family across generations. Just let your mind ponder the fact that people like John Holdren (science czar, eco nut and probably eugenics apologist), Cass Sunstein (reg czar and gun control advocate), Van Jones (commie in hiding after Beck outed him), Vivek Kundra (CIO - his office was raided by the FBI just after he accepted Obama's czar position and several managers were arrested) - will know every thing about every person you're associated with. They will know where you work and live, they'll know every flaw and weakness, they'll know your net value to society, and they'll know if you're not towing the line. The HR 3200 bill essentially gives unlimited power to Obamacare minions to take whatever action they want in order to put you in your place. Don't like your treatment by Obamacare "insurance"? You get to appeal an outcome or ruling to... not an independent court... you get to plead your case to the ultimate authority - an internal board member who works for Obamacare.
Anyone who believes this is "dead" or "over" has either fallen off a turnip truck onto their head, was born yesterday, or is part of the useful idiot squad (sorry if this offends anyone, but the truth is not always available as a sweet elixor).
The reason they were trying to speed it through is that no Congressman is going to vote for it as election time draws closer.
They wanted the Bill passed as the centerpiece of Obama's State of the Union Address but that is now not going to happen.
So, stop talking about 'head fakes' and other nonsense.
If the Bill ever gets back to the Senate, it can be killed with Amendments which the Democrats cannot stop now.
The House Democrats are now mad at the Senate and have no intention of passing their Bill.
You can stop talking about Obamacare, I respectfully decline your suggestion.
It is NOT dead. They WILL keep pushing forward. I do NOT trust Republicans in the Senate to say together and fight until it's really and truly dead. One year from now if we see that this petered out, feel free to publicly mock me.

Their commitment to passing something to allow them to take over health care must not be underestimated.
