There's unpopular, there's widely loathed, there's despised, and then there's John Edwards. Americans are a tolerant people, but they have a line, and evidently when you cheat on your cancer-stricken wife, lie about it to everyone while running for President and then decline to acknowledge fathering a love child for two years, you've crossed it. Given the towering stack of strikes against him, can Edwards resume any kind of public life? Short of curing his wife's cancer, is there anything he could do to get people to at least tolerate him?
According to a recent poll, the former presidential candidate is now historically disfavored. After taking the opinions of 678 North Carolina voters, Public Policy Polling announced on Jan. 19 that with a 15% approval rate, Edwards was the most unpopular person it had ever polled and this is from the state that gave us Jesse Helms. Another poll named him the most disappointing person of 2009. Yes, Edwards has come a long way from those blissful days when all most people hated him for was his $400 haircuts. (See the top 10 scandals of 2009.)
Image consultants and p.r. managers, who are professionally optimistic, say it's possible for him to rehabilitate his public image, but it won't be easy. First up, he has to come totally clean, and he has to do so in front of a camera. On Jan. 21, just shy of Quinn Hunter's second birthday, Edwards finally issued a statement that copped to his being her father. "It was wrong for me ever to deny she was my daughter, and hopefully one day, when she understands,

“is there anything he could do to get people to at least tolerate him?”
Why would we want to rehabilitate him for public service? Plenty of good people available for public office.
Tiger Woods can be his mentor.
Does anyone besides the editorial staff at Time give a rat’s rear end? Good riddance to him.
His image rehabed to do what? He probably couldn’t even do legal work if it involved a jury.
Of course it can be. No one cares how awful Democrats act.
If John Edwards can get approval from Judge Judy, he’ll have a chance.
Rehabilitated to what?
He’ll still be a democrat.
Rehabilitated for the purpose od WHAT?
According to Time, what Edwards has is an image problem???
Sadly, this article says as much about Time as it does about Edwards. What an utter moral vacuum must be at the heart of their souls.
Other highly respected Democrats include Robert Byrd, Al Sharpton, Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy, and Barney Frank. And the list goes on. Of course Silky’s reputation can be repaired.
“Does anyone besides the editorial staff at Time give a rats rear end?”
Exactly...don’t let the door hit you in the butt on the way out, John...
>>with a 15% approval rate, Edwards was the most unpopular person it had ever polled and this is from the state that gave us Jesse Helms.
Jesse Helms was rather popular, unlike John Edwards.
Sheesh. Ethical issues bigtime. Possible criminal actions involving campaign funds. Lying to the public. Attempted fraud against your own flesh and blood, and denial of same.
I’d say no, that’s not up for “rehabilitation.” We have more than enough of that kind in public office now.
The corrupt MSM who allowed Edwards to run for VP and later for President without any MSM investigation whatsoever you know, kinda like they did with OBAMA.
But everyone is certainly aware of Sarah Palin's wardrob, right?
Now the corrupt MSM has the audacity to dump on Edwards and ask if his image can be rehabilitated???
Umm, no. He’s toast as a politician and given the low entrance requirements to be a politician that’s saying something. The best he can ever hope for is a reality show that nobody watches.
What is there to rehabilitate? ‘Rats love guys like this.
Nope, he'll be worthless POS until the day they put him in a hole and cover him up with dirt.
