Californians are pretty sure President Barack Obama was born in the U.S.A., but not at all sure about the tea party movement, according to a new Field Poll.
Conversely, the survey found that those who identify strongly with tea partiers are not at all sure about the president's true nation of origin.
"It's an interesting phenomenon that they are not only rebelling against the growth and size of government, but they are actually questioning the authority of the president," said poll director Mark DiCamillo.
Doubts about whether Obama was born outside U.S. soil, and thus constitutionally ineligible to be president, arose during the 2008 campaign, and have been propagated since then by a "birther movement."
More than a dozen unsuccessful lawsuits have been filed challenging Obama's assertion - backed by a birth certificate and other evidence - that he was born in Hawaii.

"It's an interesting phenomenon that they are not only rebelling against the growth and size of government, but they are actually questioning the authority of the president," Oh really? Clearly this writer didn't hear all those who insisted that Bush was selected, not elected?

Californians are pretty sure President Barack Obama was born in the U.S.A They accept it as a matter of faith in abscence of any concrete evidence.

I have lots of reasons for attending tea party rallies. The birth certificate is the least of them.
This is a wedge they hope to use.

...As you suggest, a “certificate of live birth” is NOT a birth certificate.

Doubts about whether Obama was born outside U.S. soil, and thus constitutionally ineligible to be president, arose during the 2008 campaign, and have been propagated since then by a "birther movement." The media never challenged the truthers and never discussed the details of Dan Rather's forged national guard memo or exposed who actually created that forgery in an effort to steal the 2004 election.

2 members of the Democrat 60 seat majority were selected, not elected (contrary to voter will and law):
Al Franken
Paul Kirk Jr

I'm amazed it is so difficult for people to understand the son of a British subject is not "natural born". I'm amazed so many "conservatives" would be willing to play the liberal-word-redefinition game and question the term "natural born" itself in an effort to avoid the issue. Oh well. If they hope to use this issue to divide a conservative resurgence, it will fail. Whether agreed about Obama's birth status or not, we are all agreed on the topic of big-government corruption.

Yeah? Well Californians were "pretty sure" that global warming existed too...most still do.
Most of the legal actions and challenges to obamas claims to birthplace have been people not affiliated with "Tea Parties".
This is just another lame attempt to discredit Americans citizens who turn out to show their support of America and the Constitution (you know, that old, crusty document that keeps democrats from getting their way).
The other 49 states need to reallyl stop giving a $h1+ what California thinks, or does...except for the nice climate, the state is a total loser in most every way, not a "role model" or "integrity giant" for the rest of us to follow.
Nothing new there...same ol', same ol.

The DSCC memo was the first thing I thought of.
Fortunately the democrats are too stupid to realize that the tea partiers cover the widest range of ideologies we’ve seen in quite a while.

Call me a birther, a racist, a right wing extremist, a tea-bagger, a Jesus freak, a homophobe, I really don't care. I know who I am and know what I believe. Labeling me, will not shut me up. I VOTE, I DONATE. I own GUNS. Am I afraid of these wussy liberal blow-hards? NOT.

Obama's reasons for not producing his US birth certificate:
- I honestly don't know where it is
- The election is over, STFU
- It's so much more fun, with Glenn Beck's help, smearing the "birthers" as nutty Right Wing whack-jobs
- Why would I have one?

Ahh the all mighty poll.
What they don't seem to get is this grass roots movement has the effect of inclusion to develop a national platform which a majority agree.
Personally, I don't care how Obama got where he is or what religion he is, etc. I don't see it as useful to keep harping on that with his performance in office.
People aren't stupid. Articles such as this only attract attention to the Tea Party movement. I hope there is enough interest building that the convention is well covered.
