Don’t think the Chinese have failed. They’ve just found one way that won’t work, which is part of the process. They are on their way to becoming a military problem.

A few months ago in Yellow Sea, China conducted a secret test launch of Julang-2 SLBM, but failed, according to Jan. 25 report by Liberty Times of Taiwan. What's even worse, is that China's veil of secrecy failed.

Modified Golf? Shouldn’t be too hard for even a 688 to find. One more reason for SUBRON 15.

You are absolutely correct.
Underestimate China at your own peril.

The Golf platform is over fifty years old, what do they expect.
Course if they want to lose one, we would be happy to pick it up for them like we did with the Jennifer Project.

Nobody posted Nelson from the Simpson’s yet?

The Golf platform is over fifty years old, what do they expect. They use the Golf as a test platform only. It isn't a front line unit.

These failures happened with frequency when the Polaris was developed. I don’t know if there was this type of mishap with a sub getting drilled with their own dud, but they took to flooding ballast tanks on one side to induce list. The SLBM would come out at 70 degrees or so. If it failed, it wouldn’t drill them when gravity had it’s way.

The missile ... was mounted on a Golf-class submarine, and launched from underwater. However, ... its booster failed to fire up, and fell back down on the submarine.
Huh?
If the sub was underwater how did the missile land on the sub? Wouldn't there have been at least a watery cushion in between? Something is amiss here.
