Shadegg has been all over the Arizona Tea Party circuit. For those who don't know him, he worked closely with Barry Goldwater.
Great, so Simcox, Shadegg, and Hayworth split the primary vote and McCain wins with a plurality.
Smart, Arizona. Smart.
He announced it a couple of weeks ago also. I guess he's serious. The NYT needs to get with the program.
I sure hope not. Hayworth is better.
That’s my bad, the article was from the 14th, I forgot to add the date. Just hearing some buzz and found an article to lead in.
Those are all potential candidates, none have filed yet. Primary is in August so this just gives the citizens some options to find the best candidate, not only on issues, but on electability. I know that Shadegg is very well liked there.
I like JD, but they both seem to be pretty similar on the issues. Shadegg is very well liked so he has potential. If JD continues with the legal challenges because of the promotion of the run on his radio show, he may not even be an option when it comes to actual filing.
Either would be better than McNutter.
The only reason I knew is because I really hate to see him quit. He’s a good guy and now is not the time for him to abandon ship.
His quote sure makes it sound like he isn’t abandoning ship but kicking the battle up. Senate?
That is true. Shadegg though as part of the GOP ‘leadership’, if I recall, was browbeating folks to support the Bush/Pelosi/McCain/Reid/Paulson crap sammich.
That was his father, Steve.
John took Kyl's old House seat when Kyl moved to the Senate.
He's much better than Hayworth but he will not run against McCain.
Thanks for the clarification.
I’d stick with Hayworth.
Shadegg doesn’t have Hayworth’s baggage.

Pro-lifers will oppose Shadegg. That may be why he decided to retire.
If Hayworth is better he should win.
I must have missed that entire incident. What happened?
Never mind, I remember now.. I think a lot of people saw what Shadegg did as an attempt to kill the entire bill. The Stupak Amendment would have gotten the blue dog dems to vote for the bill. If Shadegg’s plan went through, the entire bill would have died as the blue dogs couldn’t support it. It is one of those moves that generates immediate negative emotional reaction but if you start to think about the strategy behind it, it made more sense.
Pro-lifers are the monkey, and Shadegg is the organ grinder shouting "Dance, monkey, dance!"
It's not that I don't see the sense. I just don't want to be treated like a monkey.
If pro-lifers think they are being treated like monkeys, they will happily stay home.
