I asked the mods to pull it, then.

Thank you. I wasn’t blaming you for it just giving warning.

I like JD - but McCain is very entrenched.

No question. It's going to take somebody like JD to beat him.

I wonder, though, if McCain's status might be like the Soviet Union's in 1989. Everybody assumed it was forever...but, when some people who didn't know any better, started taking down the wall the whole edifice collapsed.

I don't read McCain as "popular" so much as he is viewed as "inevitable". That's how Hillary was viewed before the Democrat primary, remember. If somebody starts chipping away at that perception of inevitability, it could come apart rather quickly.

Ask yourself this: Who do I know that is really for John McCain?

We have to be careful not to lose focus on what the goal is. If the goal is to remove the Dems from power in 2010, then we need to carefully allocate resources to win the needed seats. McCain will have no trouble in the general election, but Hayworth might. The goal is to win seats without losing any.

As much as I disagree with McCain’s positions on energy and immigration, and can’t understand why he refused to tell the public the truth about the person he was running against for President, this is not a chance we need to take right now.

There is a third candidate, Chris Simcox, who may split the anti-illegal immigration vote with Hayworth and give the primary to McCain anyway.

Let’s get control away from the Dems and not spend energy fighting amongst ourselves.

McCain’s POW story is very inspirational... but that only gets you so far. His maverickness is a pain in the dupa. There’s no telling where he will come down on any issue. His daughter is revealing that she would have been real trouble had he won. This whole Big Tent thing needs to go away.

His maverickness is a pain in the dupa.

Don't know about you, but I got tired of being insulted daily by my party's candidate in 2008.

There's a meaningful difference between being a "maverick" and just being an asshole.
