Aspiring night in the Mayhem nightclub in Southend. About a dozen girls, all in tiny hotpants and towering wedge heels, with dark fake tans and shiny, straightened hair, made their way over to a group of men who were standing by a large, empty bed.
The men's job was to choose who should enter a Babes On The Bed competition.

Yet far from fading away, these ideals have become more powerful than ever. What's more, throughout much of our society, the image of female perfection to which women are encouraged to aspire has become more and more defined by sexual allure. Of course, wanting to be sexually attractive has always been and will always be a natural desire for men and women. But in this generation, a certain view of female sexuality has become celebrated, and it's one defined by the terms of the sex industry.

American writer Joan Jacobs Brumberg is a historian who has looked at the diaries of young girls to see how the idea of self-improvement has changed over the years.
She says: 'Before World War I, girls rarely mentioned their bodies in terms of strategies for self-improvement, or struggles for personal identity. Becoming a better person meant paying less attention to the self, giving more assistance to others, and putting more effort into instructive reading or lessons at school. 'In 1892, an adolescent diarist wrote: "Resolved not to talk about myself or feelings. To think before speaking. To work seriously. To be self restrained in conversation and actions. Not to let my thoughts wander. To be dignified. Interest myself more in others."'

Make our nation’s standards for “journalism” look good. Just an excuse to display and talk about breasts in order to gain readers.
I would argue the whole notion of ‘success’ has been radically altered from the turn of the 19th century.
Having a family was considered a measure of success, now it is not so. Thanks btw to the 60s. You know, we really appreciate what you did and what you continue to do to this culture.
Worthless without pics. Learn the rules bubba!
Countdown to Helen Thomas picture begins............Now....
Yep, just as I thought. The Daily Mail runs an article complaining about the low morals of women today, and then publishes a whole string of photos of these naughty girls.
I hope none of you freepers clicked on the link to look.

Such are the fruits of the sexual revolution — which was in fact a revolt against Nature herself. Witness the liberation of women in this environment! Islamists can cite how we treat our women as evidence that their way is better.
We are not built to have intimate contact with multiple partners. We can, through our promiscuous behavior, bio-engineer microorganisms to overcome our medical technology. If we Westerners select ourselves for extinction as we treat pregnancy as a sexually transmitted disease, we will be replaced by those who do not value our culture and freedoms.
In this context, modelling means glamour modelling, the coy words for posing almost naked for men’s magazines. ‘I want to do it to make my mum proud,’ said one young woman, Lauren, in denim hotpants and tight, yellow crop top.

I would guess her mum is a skank also.
I just can’t imagine any mother being proud of a girl like this. Unless she is also a ho.
Just an excuse to display and talk about breasts in order to gain readers.

THIS IS SO SICK, IT’S A WONDER SOME AMERICAN PRODUCER HASN’T AIRED SUCH AN IMMORAL SHOW. IF IT COMES TO USA, I WILL TAKE EVERY CHANNEL BUT THE ANIMAL PLANET AND FOX NEWS OFF MY TV SET. I RARELY WATCH ANY OF THE OTHER CHANNELS ANYWAY, EXCEPT FOR ABCS JEOPARDY. OME TO THINK OF IT, COMCAST IS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR EVEN THESE SHOWS, BUT I WILL NOT GIVE UP FOX NEWS.
RIMMER: The bright side? *What* bright side? I'm dead, I'm composed entirely of light, and I'm alone in space with a man who'd lose a battle of wits with a stuffed iguana. Where's the bright side?
LISTER: What's an iguana? And look, look, you're not dead, are ya? I mean, you're dead! But you're not *dead* dead, because you're still here, aren't you?
RIMMER: Lister, I'm not really here! I'm not really *me*! Don't you see? I'm a computer simulation of me. That's me, there, that pile of albino mouse droppings.
LISTER: Come on. Lot's of people have died. Lots of people have died and then gone on and done really, really well. You're a hologram. So what?
.........
RIMMER: Don't give you what? I'm dead, Lister, or hadn't you noticed?
LISTER: I know you're dead, Rimmer. Don't whinge on about it!
RIMMER: Sorry to be a bore.
LISTER: I mean, you're everything you were when you were alive. Same personality. Same everything.
RIMMER: Apart from the minuscule detail that I'm a stiffie.
LISTER: Look, Rimmer, death isn't the handicap it used to be in the olden days. It doesn't screw your career up like it used to.
RIMMER: That's what they say, Lister. But if you had two people coming for a job, and one of them was dead, which one would you pick?
LISTER: It depends which is better qualified.
RIMMER: Bull pats! When was the last time you saw a dead newsreader?
LISTER: Channel 27 have a hologram reading the news.
RIMMER: Oh, groovy, funky Channel 27. Big smegging deal. You livvies hate us deadies.
Nothing new under the sun?
Way down - buried in this article - is this paragraph:

Feminists encouraged women to cease seeing a good woman’s life as defined through service to others, as it had been throughout the 19th century, and instead encouraged them to focus on their own desires and independence.
