Liberal Columnist Slams Olbermann Over 'Crazy, Sick' Scott Brown Attack
Newsbusters ^ | 1/25/10 | Matt Balan

Margery Eagan, a liberal columnist for the Boston Herald, ripped MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann on Sunday’s Reliable Sources on CNN over his “homophobic, racist, reactionary” label of Senator-elect Scott Brown on the night of the Massachusetts special election: “This is crazy...it’s sick.”

Anchor Howard Kurtz played Olbermann’s smear of Brown nine minutes into the 10 am Eastern hour, and after asking Holmes for her take, he played a sound bite of Glenn Beck’s recent dead intern crack against Brown.

EAGAN: Listen, I think Glenn Beck and Keith Olbermann have both taken leave of their senses. You know, I was a Martha Coakley fan. I thought she was a great D.A. But I know Scott Brown. He’s a great guy. You can’t help but like the guy. He strikes me as a wonderful family guy. He’s out there mowing the lawn.

KEITH OLBERMANN, MSNBC: In short, in Scott Brown, we have an irresponsible, homophobic, racist, reactionary, ex-nude model, teabagging supporter of violence against women and against politicians with whom he disagrees.

KURTZ: Too far?

AMY HOLMES, CNN POLITICAL CONTRIBUTOR: I can’t even believe that was allowed on the air, frankly.

Keep the evil face of Keith Olbermann in your mind whenever you consider buying a product from his employer/eneabler, GE.

Olbermann is a danger, but fortunately for us, there is no one to witness his insanity.

Boycott GE. Herr Olbermann needs to go.

He's a hypocrite to boot.

Calling him “homophobic” and “racist” are slanderous. Take GE to the bank, Senator Brown.

Did Beck really say this:

KURTZ: Chandra Levy, of course. This is what he had to say, Glenn Beck, talking about Scott Brown.

GLENN BECK: I want a chastity belt on this man. I want his every move watched in Washington. I don’t trust this guy. I’m just telling you.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: (laughing) It’s just a creepy moment.

BECK: This one could end with a dead intern. This one could end up with a dead intern.

Is this some kind of humor or parody that I just don't get?

When will people realize that these tantrums are the only way Olberman get noticed? The worst thing we can do to Olberman is to ignore him.

Nope...keep the idiot Keith Overbite just where he is...his brand of lunacy is good for conservatism. Everyone on the right sounds sane and thoughtful compared to this jerk.

No parody. Every word here was said in the media.

He said it.
But he said it, clearly and unequivocably, as a JOKE.

Olbermann’s being paid $7 million to spew that hate. NBC loves it.

Eventually, he’ll say something too crazy for even NBC. I don’t know when, and it will have to be extreme, but if he is never reigned in, he’ll go too far. Everyone does.

I’m a fan. I didn’t take it as a joke when he said it. I watched. If it was a joke his delivery was awful. I was upset when he was done, not laughing.
(i caught olbermanss rant as well. i was delighted at his suicidal tendencies.)
