The DOH won’t send me a non-certified copy of BHO and SAD’s marriage certificate even though it is expressly authorized for release to anybody who asks for it, as are non-certified death certs and abbreviated BC’s. They won’t send me non-certified copies of BHO II’s abbreviated BC, SAD & BHO’s marriage certificate, or the death certs for SAD or Madelyn Dunham.

Why does everyone keep asking the DOH? Why not go directly to the county courthouse? And in person rather than relying on email/snail mail/phone calls? Surely, there's one person in Hawaii who has questions.

We’re still looking for somebody in Hawaii to be our hands and feet. The rules say that certified copies can only be given by the state registrar, but maybe non-certified copies could be done by county registrars. That would be worth checking up on. Thanks for the tip.

Are you the person who has worked with vital statistics records all over the country (except Hawaii)? If so, I would love to pick your brain privately. (How’s that for inviting? lol) First question: Do most offices have index lists that they publish - and if so, do they typically bind and/or archive the lists for posterity?
