N.C. Democrats must again overcome corruption rap

RALEIGH, N.C. — For the past decade, North Carolina Democrats in charge of state government have been successful persuading the public they're unlike fellow party colleagues who've ended up behind bars.

Democrats have remained in power in the Legislature and at the Executive Mansion despite the news of illegal activities that sent then-House Speaker Jim Black, Agriculture Commissioner Meg Scott Phipps and Rep. Thomas Wright to prison.

The unspeakably corrupt Democrats in power in NC for oh so long. Come on, fellow North Carolinians!

Throw the crooks OUT - let THIS be the year they are dumped to the curb so we can take this state into a time of reduced taxes, big cuts in state spending, and hope for clean and honest government here!

Perhaps the North Carolina will switch from a Blue State in 2008 to a Red State in 2012.

The Dems and their cohorts have so much money - and have gerrymandered the districts so much in their favor....it will be a long hard effort to dump them.

But with the unemployment rate now 11.2, I believe even some of the yellowdog Dems who continue to put the Dems in power every election cycle may be ready to elect Republicans - if we can just get some good candidates running!

They will only have a chance at achieving that as the minority party. They’ve run NC since reconstruction, and it’s long past time for them to go, from the “Smart Start” flouting puffball in the governor’s office to the filth that’s been in control of the legislature since the 19th century.

NC has for the most part been a red state nationally. People are right to be concerned about new NC voters who fled from MD and NJ to escape the mess they made up there, but don’t assume that Obama’s 2008 victory is a trend. Carter fooled NC in 1976. He couldn’t do it again, and neither could Clinton or any of the other Dem also-rans.

Obama didn’t win NC - Barr voters gave it to him

Way to go Barr voters, you helped get Obama into office.

Oh - may that be so!

I think many conservative/Republicans in NC have just given up on the state.

I hope the Scott Brown win will motivate a few more (thousand) to get involved in the effort to clean these corruptokings OUT this year.

This should be a 1994-on-steroids year!

Well, the Republicans would have had the House several years ago if Black had not stolen it right out from under them.

Ah, the NC republican party will again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Hey guys let us run another mayor of Charlotte.

Move to Virginia, we cleaned ZERO’s clock in the governors race.

The only thing worse than the NC DIMS is the NC repubs.

The leftist Simon Girty and Bill Ferny types have licked themselves crosseyed ever since Ms Hagfish took over Jesse’s old senate seat. The good folks up nawth just put a repub in Chappaquidick Ted’s seat. What goes around comes around!!!

Forget the old north state. It is more and more like Gimmorah by the Bay.

True, but Nader could have delivered the rest of the country to the Republican nominee under less dire circumstances (ie better conservative/Republican turnout on election day). Given what Barr accomplished in NC, you have to wonder how he did it. I think it’s fair to say though that the fact he was running against McCain had something to do with it. Democracy is a double edged sword in any case. Efforts to protect the Republocrat monopoly haven’t helped conservatives.

Not to mention Kay Hagen whose unmarried name is Chiles, as in niece of “walkin’ Lawton” Chiles a professional political creature who was in the State House, State Senate, then US Senator then governor of FL-— and a died in the wool liberal throughout, masquerading when needed as a “fiscal” conservative for the working man. Chiles legacy was stacking the FL Supreme Court for the nightmare scenario of the decision for a selective recount of Bush v. Gore. Finally have gotten rid of most of those idiots.’

From Wikipedia: “Chiles’ niece is US Senator Kay Hagan of North Carolina, a Democrat elected in 2008. Hagan is the daughter of Chiles’ sister Jeannette.” Hagan is in the family business of Democrat machine politics in NC.

Amazes me how Elizabeth Dole, a true NC native let that happen. Might have been her husband and inside the Beltway. Somebody needs to run, hard, against Hagan and truly represent the stalwart people of NC who have been ravaged again and again by machine Democrats-—first textiles (gone), then furniture (gone) and now tobacco(co-opted and paid off). They deserve better than Hagen. And Perdue, too, with a billion in new taxes this year with over 11% unemployed. The largest employer in the state IS the state- true socialism at hand.

As for textiles, I don’t think Republicans could save that industry under any circumstances. As far as I can tell, too much of it is manual labor intensive and it will go overseas. High-tech textiles haven’t lived up to their promise except for a few narrow cases. Factory workers at least briefly were able to move from other industries to more high tech stuff, but not for long. If the highest quality textile products are being made in the poorest countries at the cheapest prices and the cost of production here (due to oil, health insurance, etc) keeps increasing, then textiles aren’t going to a major industry anywhere in the SE for long. Manufacturing may pick up again if the economy turns around, but it won’t be enough for all the people who want to make a career out of it.

Yes, indeed, Easley should be in jail - hopefully soon.

But, then, the entire Demonrat machine in NC is corrupt so they should all be jail.

Anyway - the wonderment is that WRAL, a Dem party mouthpiece (unlike when Fred Fletcher and Jesse Helms were there), even published this article.

Guess the corruption is so stinky, even they can’t ignore it.

I didn’t know that about Hagan - I only knew I loathed her...
and that she was a part of the NC Criminal Organization known as the Democratic party. Same for Bevvy.

Hagan is proving herself to be quite the arrogant libtard in the US Senate.

I think NC will clean her clock the next time around.
