Something to think about on a Sunday afternoon.

How safe do you really feel going to the mall, grocery store, etc...

When you do go to these places, do you check out your surroundings, the people, the security aka. entrences?

Are you prepared if something does happen? Are you a CCP holder and carry your firearm with you to these places (me ... yes always ... on my hip now even sitting at home)?

Check out the comments at the link to this story ... very good comments.

it's difficult to grasp why they haven't been hit up until now.

Someone apparently doesn't keep up with the news.

I think we need a SSA . We can empty our pockets BEFORE we get in the mall ..

Things like this being put out are a two edged sword. On one hand people need to know the potential danger and on the other we are giving bad people ideas.

I have worried that something like that would happen during the Christmas shopping season for the last few years. I shudder to think what the impact would be if there were widespread simultaneous attacks.

Obama is doing everything he can to ensure that America’s shopping malls are no longer constantly packed with people.

It must be the jihadi lack of imagination that they are so ridiculously obsessed with airliners.

Hell, a suicide bomber would kill just as many airline passengers if he just got in line with passengers waiting to get through security screening.

They really are dumb when you think about it. The Beltway snipers killed ten and injured three, yet they held the entire Greater DC Metro area in a state of terror for three weeks.

How much chaos and havoc would be caused by a slew of bombs going off underground in the NYC or DC or Philly subway systems? Jerusalem-style bus bombings? How could anyone prevent it?

Am I worried about Jihadis? No. Not really. My situational awareness is more concerned with keeping the thugs and other criminals in the corners of my eyes.

Much greater chance of getting jacked in the parking lot than falling victim to terrorism.

I have said this for years. Five malls in various cities in one afternoon would shut down the economy.

I;m sure the terrorists have thought this through: malls simply don't have the crowd density that transportation systems have to maximize the body count. Ease of entry also means ease of escape for shoppers. A transportation system is a moving object with people confined and unable to escape their fate.

This article is just a sensation piece. No we don't need metal detectors and ID cards to enter malls.

Good article, but the biggest terrorists are the democrats who have destroyed vast numbers of malls.

The economy has been intentionally ruined by Obama/Reid/Pelosi with many US shopping centers now “ghost malls” of empty stores.

The democrat party is far, far more destructive than al Queda could ever hope to be.

Very old idea. I remember some 70s TV program (I think) where a couple of radical “liberationists” were walking through a mall tossing hand grenades into the stores as they passed.

Will Mall owners be liable for any lawsuits brought by families of the victims of such an attack? A foreseeable attack and yet they did nothing ... you can hear the lawyers now.

There may have been an attempt only recently. I think there was a guy who was going to shoot up a mall in Sudbury, Massachusetts. Thankfully, the attempt was stopped. Scott Brown mentioned it in his debate with Martha Coakley.

You mean the media didn’t give this a lot of attention? Shocking. Here’s the link, including the name of the Amish suspect.

Our enemies like to make grand statements. Think what one AR 15 did to the DC area some years back.

You betcha!

I went from a compact .45 with less than 40 rounds to a competition length 9 with more than eighty rounds for just this reason.

I've got the tactical diaper bag. Now I'm looking for a kevlar stroller :)

I’ve always thought that a stadium or arena would be a better target for terrorists than a mall.

What more appropriate a target than the massive Mall of America (MOA) in Minneapolis. My son lives in Minneapolis and reports that a new mosque is being opened in Bloomington very near the MOA.
