Terri Schiavos Brother Says the Press Is Still Lying About His Sister
Friday, January 22, 2010
By Pete Winn, Senior Writer/Editor
(CNSNews.com) -- It’s been nearly five years since his sister, Terri Schindler Schiavo, was starved and dehydrated to death, and Bobby Schindler says the mainstream press is still “telling lies” about her.
"It’s still being misreported by the mainstream media,” Schindler told CNSNews.com Thursday. “There’s things that are being said that were simply not true."
“They refer to Terri as being brain dead,” Schindler said of news accounts. “I see that all the time, and it simply is not true. They say that she was on artificial life support, without explaining to people what artificial life support means. There’s this perception out there that Terri was on a machine – that people like Terri need machines to keep them alive. And it simply is not true."
Terri Schiavo became the center of a crisis that played out on the national stage beginning in 2003, when a Florida judge, Judge George Greer, ordered her feeding tube removed -- at the request of Michael Schiavo, Terri's husband.
Despite a two-year long effort by Bobby's parents, Robert and Mary Schindler, to save their profoundly disabled daughter, Terri Schiavo died of severe dehydration on March 31, 2005, almost 14 days after her feeding tube was finally removed.
Schindler said the autopsy report showed that his sister was physically in good shape at the time of her death -- and that the pathologist indicated she could have "quite easily lived a normal life-span." he said.
"Terri died because we took away her food and water – just like we would all die if our food and water was taken away. It took almost two weeks."
Still, the media continue to report that his sister, who was left profoundly disabled after a heart attack cut off oxygen to her brain, was brain-dead, that she was on artificial life support, that she was unresponsive and that she was blind.
"These are simply not factually correct," he told CNSNews.com. "It’s patently false.
“If Terri were alive today, she could be here to ‘March for Life’ with us,” Schindler said. “All she needed was a wheelchair, and we could have taken her anywhere. But there’s the perception out there that these people basically need to be bed-ridden, and they are unable to be taken anywhere. It’s just not true."
Many people still do not know that food and hydration are now defined, at least legally, as artificial life support, Schindler said.
“So when they refer to someone as being on artificial life support, (people) think that they are on machines – when the fact of the matter is that Terri could be taken anywhere," he added.
A former teacher, Schindler now speaks for the Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation, which was formed after her death to help families with disabled loved ones in similar situations.
"There seems to me to be a profound prejudice against people with disabilities that exists in our culture today," he said.
“If you go on YouTube, or go on MySpace, and put my sister’s name in there and see all the horribly offensive things that come up, and how she’s made fun of -- it frightens me, because of what exists in our culture today and how we view people like my sister and people with cognitive disabilities," Schindler said.
"I think we’re being taught to look at these people as burdens, as inconveniences, instead of what I believe they are – as gifts. They allow us to show our compassion, our love. I believe that they are blessings.
“And if you talk to families that are caring for people like my sister, they look at their loved one as a blessing – to be in this position of having to care for them – because they are completely vulnerable to us.”
On April 11, the Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation is sponsoring a concert in Indianapolis to commemorate the fifth anniversary of Terri’s death. Country music superstars RandyTravis and Collin Raye are headlining the event All proceeds will go towards helping families.

Consider this: the many executive orders signed by GWB, combined with the vast expansion of the federal government in terms of size, power and control, effectively GAVE 0bama the tools that he is now using to destroy and dismantle our Republic.
Prior to Zero’s ‘inauguration’ by the SCOTUS, those justices failed in their task to confirm that Zero was actually eligible to assume the Presidency due to the lack of any real documentation establishing his Constitutional bonafides.
George W. Bush, as the sitting President prior to Zero being sworn in, likewise failed in his Oath to ‘preserve, protect and defend’ the Constitution of the United States from a suspected usurper and fraud, aka Barack Hussein 0bama.
So before you wax nostalgic for the days of GWB, recognize this: GWB was no conservative Republican as his apologists and idolizers would have us believe, he did NOT uphold his Oath of Office, and he left America LESS secure than she was when he assumed the Presidency in January 2001, and he left a whole series of new fascist-style mechanisms that are being exploited and used by the 0bamunist thugs that have taken over our government.
GWB did America NO favors, don’t delude yourself.

It's hard to believe our court system awarded the death penalty to a person who committed no crime. There were doctors who declared she was not brain dead. This was absolute "tyranny" on U.S. soil.
This country's government does not believe in moral absolutes anymore. We are now crossing the line from apathy to dependence. The final scene of this play is not pretty.

OK, then keep hating the Bush’s and petpetuating the commiecrat lies, why don’t you?
The fact is this was a local issue, decided by a local Circuit Judge, and enforced by the local sheriff who backed up the judge’s order and told the state to get out.
Why didn’t the court inform the family of the limitations of their appeal? Why didn’t the family’s lawyers appeal?
There was a whole lot more to this case than just Jeb Bush not caring about this woman as the commiecrap press wants you to believe. How could Jeb Bush intervene when the law had been followed?

It isn’t about ‘hating Bushes’ (which is the usual robo-answer from the Bush idolizers), it is about Jeb Bush FAILING to do all that he could to save Terri Schiavo’s life.
It is easy (and intellectually lazy) to prattle on about how ‘everything was legal, all rules were followed, blah-blah-blah’ but when those rules have been exploited and taken advantage of by criminals hiding behind judicial robes (George W Greer) and local sherriff departments that have clearly been compromised by a corrupt county judge, that is when the chief executive of the State (that’s lil Jeb) has to literally throw the rule book out the window, mobilize sufficient National Guard troops, and literally go in there, get the hostage out (meaning Terri Schiavo), and save her life. Let the rule book quoters, and the excuse-makers judge or condemn AFTER that life was (or should have been) saved.
And if Jeb didn’t have the balls to take such action (as it is clearly proven), all he had to do was pick up the phone, inform big brother George in Washington that “local law and order has broken down in Pinellas County Florida” and request federal assistance. If GEORGE had the balls that his little brother was lacking, he could have provided the help needed to rescue Terri from that death facility where she was being slowly starved to death.
I remind you that “the law was followed” as six million Jews were shoved into the Nazi ovens in World War II.
Think about that.

You are frankly mistaken, I have no affection for the Bush’s nor their reputation. But I do have an affinity for the FACTS!
Think about THAT!
And NO, the Nazi’s didn’t kill millions of Jews WITHIN THE LAW, Hitler, just like Ayatollah Obama made up his own laws! Are you going to support Ayatollah Obama’s laws?

You’re missing the entire point.
ANY public official has it within their power at any time to use and exploit existing law, or to enact NEW laws which allow them to commit illegal acts against one or more citizens.
The FACT is, Jeb Bush did NOT do all that he could have to save the life of Terri Schiavo. You can spin it anyway you want to, you can hide behind everything being ‘legal and proper’ but the FACT is, Fat Boy sat on his ass in Tallahassee, talked a good game, made a few pro-Terri comments, but when push came to shove, Pinellas County probate Judge George W Greer reached out and snipped off Jeb’s balls with a pair of nail clippers, which was all that was needed to send Jeb scampering for cover.
At any time, Jeb could have ordered the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and/or the Florida National Guard to deploy to Pinellas County, he could have in fact led the damn way and informed those who were preventing Terri from receiving nutrition and nourishment to step aside, and if they did not? Make them step aside by force.
Doing the right thing sometimes means that you ignore and defy what the ‘law’ says is legal, if the result of such laws or judicial orders mean that an innocent person or persons are being injured or murdered.
THAT is leadership. You have to be willing to put it all on the line when you are faced with a ‘right or wrong’ / ‘good or evil’ decision to be made, regardless of what it might mean for you personally, professionally or politically.
Jeb didn’t have what it takes. And that is why Terri Schiavo is dead.

No, I’m not missing the point. The point is YOU are into believing the commiecrap agenda at pointing a finger at Jeb Bush.
I’m not into that. I’m into the FACTS!

WHAT ‘commiecrap’ agenda?
The FACT is, Terri Schiavo was murdered by judicial decree.
The FACT is, Jeb Bush failed to do anything to stop it and the evidence is that Terri is dead.
End of story.

No, not end of story. The FACT is that this was a local issue, decided by a local judge, and the local sheriff enforced the law and when Jed Bush tried to intervene, the local local enforcement, as is their right, pushed him back.
You will NEVER get it. Have a nice day!

Is it your contention that a judge exercises final authority?
Do you reject the American system of checks and balances?
Do you agree with the Declaration of Independence, specifically the mentioning of three of our inalienable rights?
What is the source of those rights?
How are those rights to be secured in the American system?
Just trying to understand where you are coming from.

Sure I do, most of the time the system works...in this case it didn’t. It broke down.
Do I think that this case was handled right in the courts? I think they should’ve used their opportunity to appeal it. They didn’t. Why didn’t they?
Is it easier to blame Jeb Bush who in fact did try to intervene and got pushed back by the law? Why do people have to have somebody else to blame?
Blame games are the commiecraps methodology.
How many millions of people heard and knew about this case? DID YOU? If you felt so strongly about it, why weren’t there at the time helping these people? It’s kind of late to get so concerned about it NOW, don’t you think? The time to help Terry Schaivo is long past.
But it makes good propaganda, doesn’t it?

Apparently whatever a judge says is ok with RowdyFFC, so if a judge orders that a member of his family be deprived of food and water and allowed to die without so much as a few drops of water on their lips, so be it.
By RowdyFFC’s standards, any county in America can set up their own system of euthanasia, enforced abortion, child molestation, etc., and if the local judge and sheriff’s departments are ‘ok’ with it, then nobody can do a damn thing about it.
That kind of thinking belongs not to double digit IQ’s, but to SINGLE digit IQ’s, something along the order of a house plant.

Give your head a shake fool, you don't know a fraction of what you THINK you know.

There was way too much of that hand wringing going on, both domestically AND internationally, for example we heard all that big talk about the ‘Axis of Evil’ (Iraq, Iran and North Korea) but GWB left office with Iran and North Korea closer to a nuclear weapons capability than ever before, and why?
Because the goofy RINO didn’t do a damn thing to stop them.
