A sign of dark days ahead for the Democrats (and MSNBC as Well)
Baltimore Sun ^ | January 22,2010 | Ron Smith

Smiles were few, but there were plenty of scowls Tuesday night on the usually smug faces of MSNBC's fervently liberal show hosts. Chris Matthews hasn't looked this unhappy since his one-time boss, Tip O'Neill, passed from this mortal coil. Nora O'Donnell, network reporter and Obama enthusiast, was unable to muster even a trace of a grin throughout the evening, as it became clear that the late polling in Massachusetts' special election was accurate and that upstart Republican state senator Scott Brown was going to beat Democrat Martha Coakley and take the U.S. Senate seat held by a Kennedy for almost all of the last 58 years.

The habitually ill-tempered Keith Olbermann was more splenetic than ever, excoriating Mr. Brown as "an irresponsible, homophobic, racist, reactionary, ex nude model, tea bagging, supporter of violence against women, and against politicians with whom he disagrees. In any other time in our history, this man would have been laughed off the stage as unqualified and a disaster in the making by the most conservative of conservatives. Instead, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is close to sending this bad joke to the Senate of the United States."

The Democrat Back Draft, Left-Wing Lunacy Let loose by the loss of seat of the "Lion of the Senate" (how I despised that very nauseating pretentious appellation for the late Senator Kennedy) has only just begun. Please See My Related Post on John Stewart's Special Comment on Keith Olbermann, the way he so masterfully rips him to shreds is not to be missed.

I am simply amazed at how this setback is unraveling 0’s agenda. I suppose losing the governorships of VA and NJ didn’t matter, as the rats had control of the Federal government. This isn’t over. They can still pass 0care. But, it is the first major policy setback. More will follow.

the "Lion of the Senate"

"In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps (with the fishes) tonight."

Cheers!

Five years from now, people will be asking about Kennedy, “Who? “ Fame is fleeting, and political fame as much so as the fame of a movie star.

It always amazed this Georgia boy how a fat, slobbering drunk, murderering son of a bootlegger ever became such an "influence" in the United States.

It's like he had Massachusetts in a trance of some kind, and made it totally politially incorrect to utter in public any disparaging words about the "senate lyin'".

I guess the phrase "follow the money" explains it.

Many young people today didn’t understand about the Kennedy family being like American royalty, and Camelot and all that. And in a few more years the memory of Ted Kennedy will fade further. So will any thoughts of the Kennedy family as being special.

The latter generation proved a cropper. JFK Jr. was the last “star” in the family, but he was no more than a pretty face. which is why he never got into politics.

With Air America dropping dead, can MSNBC be far behind?

Mathews, Maddow, Olbermann, Shultz all have to go. They are much much much much further LEFT than FNC is “right”. No doubt about that, they are extreme.

It’s been like Christmas all week. Every morning FNC brings a new story about the libs losing something. My favorite gift was the video of Matthews losing it on camera. I didn’t see it all as I had to clean up the gift wrapping.

” They can still pass 0care”.
No they can not. Dems are running scared after the affair in Mass.
I do not think obammy will get ANY of his favorite bills passes now.

Thanks 1bryce! Wow-BO-wow, even the Balti Sun from the middle kingdom of LaLaLand is publishing the bad lefty news! I had to check it out since the BSun seemed to be awakening....found another article on AGW & da’ Deniers by Tom Schaller....the commenters were universally telling this AGW prick to stuff it. The Lefty Pyramid of deceit is collapsing one by one...beware of the Ides of March!

You may (or may not) recall how the (free)world media promoted JFK as some kind of dashing, handsome, super war hero political royal person and the aura was picked up by his family by association. Despite the fact that the family was highly dysfunctional and composed of a bunch of less-than-brilliant bimbo chasers, that generation of folks in MA, as well as other democratic enclaves, clung to the image of them as some sort of political elites.

To this day, the name Kennedy brings up an image of a youngish, dashing, handsome and brilliant personality (JFK) rather than a tired, ugly, unshaven political crook (Nixon). IMHO, Teddy benefited from this associative comparison until the very end. In any event, that's the best answer I can come up with. Hopefully someone has a better one.

Oh yes, I recall...I was a senior in high school the year he was assassinated, so I remember "camelot" well. Even at that young, tender age I could see what was going on, and my Dad...well, my Dad had a few choice names for him too, which I can't post in public.

I hope the "mistique" is over, as we don't need any more "royalty" in America (once we get rid of king obama, that is).

Sounds like Krazy Keith thinks Brown is an improvement over Admiral Kennedy.

“Well, perhaps not as angry as Keith Olbermann, who may be the most permanently outraged person not in custodial care...”

Now that’s funny.

I had a few good chuckles reading that :-)

Now they’re trying to introduce legislation to end the ‘filibuster’.
