Since the inception of the Las Vegas Monorail, Nevadans have been repeatedly reassured that they will not wind up on the hook for its bills.
Nevermind the high salaries monorail executives and board members are getting, that wont ever wind up coming out of the publics pockets.
The Nevada Business and Industry Departments issuance of $650 million in tax-exempt bonds to construct the transit system? Not to worry, no liability there.
Granting state sales tax and county property tax exemptions to the monorail? Yes, it helped the monorail system avoid putting millions of dollars in the public coffers, but it was the right thing to do.
Clark Countys approval of the monorails exclusive franchise agreement? Just a formality.
Having a five-member board appointed by the governor to oversee the operation? Thats just to protect taxpayers interests.

A pretty typical example I would say.
Everytime monorail is mentioned we must post the Simpson’s monorail song!

the only way this could turn back and bite the people is if 2-faced/forked-tongued politicians force their lies onto those people.
hey...is Nevada’s most famous Senator???
Yes.
DUH!
If they would have extended it to McCarran airport, it would make money. I’ve ridden it several times and it beats a long walk in 110 degree weather. But its a block off the strip and unless your going from one end to the other, not really worth riding. Unless you are really hungover or tired....Typical illogical project.
Of course!
What a stupid question!
No government, at any level, can create money without devaluing the money already existing in circulation.
Hence, the only source of money to pay for anything "created" by the hand of Government, is the American taxpayer.
