I hear you can get a rain barrel from the City. I collected some rain water in a watering pail, to later water my plants.

I was thinking about barrels for water too...it seems such a waste to watch it roll into the storm drains!!

Wow. Chains required on Interstate 10 in Southern California. This is not the El Nino I remember. The low pressure has been at historic levels also. My ears are almost a popping.

Snow stranding 100 vehicles in mountains, brings rare Pass area travel restriction

Motorists driving on Interstate 10 between Beaumont and Yucaipa are being required to carry snow chains for the first time in at least nine years and 100 vehicles are trapped in snow on Highway 18 near Big Bear Lake as snow and rain continues to pummel the Inland Empire.

"Yucaipa is amazing. I've never seen Yucaipa like this," Caltrans spokeswoman Terri Kasinga said by phone describing a 3-inch blanket of snow.

Historic Western Storm

I kept looking outside last night for hail, but none. Twice during these storms, the emergency broadcast system (EBS) has broken in on the radio with warnings. Last night, it was a hail warning. I’ve never heard the EBS actually used, just the testing of it. Did the hail hit your car or is it protected?

One was the other not...it was only pea size, but we never see anything like this...heck, we never see much rain..we just recieved a years worth in 48 hours...I’ve been here 30 years..last night was the first I ever remember having a toranado warning...it did some major damage at Barret-Jackson classic auto auction in Scottsdale, AZ..When we get rain here, my family goes out to play in it like it was snow or something.

There was no hail in the central SFV last night either; in fact, we were rain free off and on all night.

Looks like the snow level got down to about 1,200 feet in spots along the frontal range here in Rancho Cucamonga.

Geez that is in the LA Basin...REAL SNOW !!

I went out for a Burger and zuccini fries and to visit Fry's and got caught by a Big Black cloud...that sprinkled a fair amount on me.
