The first storm has hit southwest Colorado. They’re getting about three feet of snow in Durango. Looks like if anything just flurries up here. That’s OK. They need the moisture more.
Near Santa Cruz...up North.

UPDATE 01/22/2010, 10:00 AM
No sunshine down here yet....
I want out of the leanto....UGH!
They will say we are still in a drought! They are nuts!We have had at LEAST 10 inches here probably more!It has rained steadily all day here....
Thanks for the links! Hope they rescue that dog in the L.A. River!
I agree. It's so they can tell us when and how much water we can use. Other reports say we have already had more rainfall these 3 storms than recent previous entire seasons.
That looks like Phoenix yesterday...it’s been on and off today...had a toranado touch down in Scottsdale Desert Ridge area last eve. Barret-Jackson had damage to classic cars..their huge tents and poles blew onto the 101 freeway.. I’m sure if you are still getting it..it’s on it’s way to me...again.

Tajgirvan: I saw and appreciated your comments yesterday, just as you know couldn’t get on forum all afternoon.
Dark clouds, nippy air and scattered showers in West L.A. area today.
OMG! He snatched the dog out of the water and put him an an ambulance...what a rescue!!!
Stuff always lingers in the LA Basin for a day or so...it is it’s own special mixing bowl cause of the ridge of mountains.
Where was that?
This week’s rains remind me of similar occurrences in the fifties, sixties, eighties and early 2000’s —
Nothing dramatic here on San Fernando Valley floor — sure, some flooded streets/intersections and fallen tree limbs, and of course there is ALWAYS the threat of mudslides and floods in beaches and near burn areas, but don’t let the media tell you the entire L.A. basin and vicinity is floating away. Not happening.
On Fox News they showed a dog rescue in what they called the L.A. Rive...looks like what we call flood control canals in AZ. Good sized dog had to be plucked from the moving water from a heli. Poor dog...poor rescue guy...took several bites before getting a good hold on him.
I’m in the SF Valley — during a break in the rain this a.m. I dumped at least 7 inches of water out of a big planter I had sitting empty in the yard. Probably not a very accurate gauge of rainfall but it’s all I’ve got.
That drain always has someone getting into it.
....and as I type this...it is STILL coming down!
RE: “Dark clouds, nippy air and scattered showers in West L.A. area today.”

Yes, SF Valley is the same — we were rain-free for several hours before noon today — and last night between about 11 and 3 a.m. there was nothing going on, either. Even with these strong storms, we’ve had periods of no rain off an on for an hour or more at at time all week.
I love this... Rain has become a way of life!
