Sen. John McCain (R) has known from an early stage that he could face a tough primary in his bid for re-election this year, and acted on it. He already launched radio ads touting his effort to block President Obama's "extreme left wing crusade." And just this week, Sen.-elect Scott Brown (R) recorded robocalls that went out to voters in Arizona.
Now, a Rasmussen poll (502 LVs, 1/20, MoE +/- 4.5%) shows the Maverick just over 50 percent in a potential matchup against former Rep. JD Hayworth -- not the best position for an incumbent to be, but an improvement over the dead heat Rasmussen found in November.
Primary Election Matchup
McCain 53 (+8 vs. last poll, 11/18)
Hayworth 31 (-12)
Simcox 4 (unch)
Und 8 (+1)

This would be the 7,846th temporary “rightward turn” in McQueeg’s sorry career.
+++++++++++++++
His wife and daughter are out there campaigning for gay marriage for crying out loud...McLame himself is still talking about amnesty bills...for crying out loud people (Sarah are you listening??) - jettison this guy. (Just because I say that doesn’t mean I don’t greatly respect his service in the military to this country, btw.)
It’s early yet.
I agree I don’t like him or his family either...the media love them though since they are not us.
All this hating on Sarah, as if shes gonna vote and bam McCain gets in. This is up to Arizona. Its on their shoulders to get rid of him. Not Sarahs.
+++++++++++++++
It’s no hating of Sarah. That’s lame, in fact that’s McLame...:)
No, it’s an ask of Sarah to be cognizant of her Conservative base...this reminds me of what we’re currently having to battle the GOP leadership about. Eery similarities and ones I don’t like one bit.
That’s a far cry from hate Renee.
“I agree I dont like him or his family either...the media love them though since they are not us.”
Not as much as they loved the Obamas when push came to shove...but that’s old news...:)
More likely Sarah has destroyed her chances of being the leader of the conservative wing of the Republican party. I don't think she'll have much influence on the Arizona voters, or voters anywhere else for that matter.
Hayworth needs to make his decision soon, and if he runs he'll receive out-of-state financial support near the level of Scott Brown.
Glenn Beck interviewed Sarah yesterday and asked her specifically why she was campaigning for McCain. Sarah said that McCain is an important ally in fighting ObamaCare and other issues. The truth is that McCain, as much as he IS a RINO, has been bashing ObamaCare from day one, and has strongly spoken out against it in recent months. Today, Glenn pointed out that Sarah is campaigning for McCain because, as she said yesterday, “I honor my promises.” Glenn doesn’t agree with it. Most of us here don’t agree with it. I can only venture to guess that in between now and November, McCain can be helpful in keeping the 41 Republican votes together as other versions of ObamaCare come down the pike. McCain is, despite his RINO record, a Republican vote in the Senate to stop Obama's agenda at least for another 9½ months. In the end, yes, may McCain get an elephant-sized Conservative ass-kicking on November 2.

He not only declines the opportunity to name her as one of the party's up-and-comers, he makes sure the audience knows he left her name off the list on purpose and laughs about it.

McQueeg is scum. Palin's a fool.
Oh, geez. Please beam him up, Scottie.
Tell me, Cap’n, does Sarah decide who wins in AZ or do the voters?
“Loyalty is one thing. Blind loyalty is another”
Agreed. And what about her loyalty to Conservatives who have supported her? That’s a truly important question.
“If Sarah campaigns for McCain, then her credibility is toast”
I’m on that thinking, too, however I’d like to see her address exactly why she is doing this. She’s smart enough to see that her base and the Conservative movement is completely p*ssed off at this. It’s not enough to say he’s an “honorable man”. Maybe 30 years ago he was. The McCain of today is the complete opposite. I don’t care how much she likes him as a person, if you are a Conservative you don’t want McCain in your circle.
Your pro-abort, liberal northeast pal, Scott Brown, is also supporting McCain. Brown started making robocalls for McCian the other day. LOL
ScottyMAC = JohnnyMAC! LOL
Returning political favors can be a bitch sometimes, no matter who does it.
yes that is true RINO<Progressive in media parlance
Suuure.
Gosh damn that Fred frenzy! Never mind the RINO alternatives of Mick-Rudy-Huck-Mitt that were being served up by the government controlled media at that time.
And how dare these Sarah supporters are so enthusiastic. It's better that they should sit back on their asses while the media tries to push it's approved candidates again this go-round.
(Unbelievable)
Hey Reagan...
I completely agree with your post and understand where you are coming from. When the whole “visor-gate” thing happened and Sarah said she supported McC’s re-election, I was so upset. I got on C4P and told them my feelings - that I was very dissapointed that she would support this guy bc he WAS NOT a conservative. I was told that I was a “phony supporter” because of how I felt...I thought, WTH? Is no one else holding her accountable?? You hit it right on the head...people’s love for Sarah is clouding their judgement.
After reading Palin’s resignation speech I realized that she didn’t say she would only support “conservative” candidates. She said:
“I will support others who seek to serve, in or out of office, for the right reasons, and I dont care what party theyre in or no party at all. Inside Alaskaor outside Alaska.
Now, that doesn’t change the fact that McC is NOT running for the right reasons. If he really wanted what was best for America, he would retire. But obviously, he wants the power and won’t give up the fight. But I don’t think Sarah has LIED to us per say...but I completely understand where you’re coming from. My faith in Sarah has been shaken and it makes me pretty sad.
I live in AZ and have a fire in my belly like never before. Mccain is not going to be victorious in November. His time has come. Sarah can endorse and stump for him if she wishes...but she WILL go down with the ship.
I still love her very much...but I draw the line here. McCain has NOT magically changed his mind and become more conservative. He is what is WRONG with this country.
She likes him as a nice, honorable man not in the way you describe it, read the book please...
Oh now we question her conservative credentials? HAHAHA!
Yeah, she’s cute. Now what? If she can’t see how she’s affecting the Conservatives in AZ, and all who care about McLame’s myriad issues, she needs to reassess.
When it travels from thread to thread, and you know there was no support there for Sarah even before this, it’s hating. Now, ‘hating’ and ‘hate’ are two different things in the internetz vernacular. You know that.
There are people who have been chomping at the bit for Sarah to support McCain, just so they can trash her. They’ve been hoping for it. You know that too, Bruce.
