The parable of the “Good Samaritan” presents a litmus test for any Nation which boasts of having a concern for its neighbors. By relegating our youngest neighbors to the status of property to be disposed of in the United States of America we commit a continuing egregious evil. As we march and pray, remember our cause is just and we shall prevail. We are giving a voice to those who have none. As Blessed Teresa of Calcutta reminded us they are the “poorest of the poor. In the words of the Psalmist, the Lord hears the cry of the poor.

I wish I was able to attend. I hope the turnout is high. I’m sure the MSM will purposely underestimate it if they report on it at all.

Jericho March, Aurora, IL, 9-15-07 "I simply could not fathom how any candidate could call us to recognize our obligations in solidarity to one another as neighbors and fail to recognize that the baby in the first home of the whole human race is also our neighbor."

In Deacon Fournier's article on Scott Brown's win, the only mention of him being pro-abortion is: "Scott Brown, a Protestant, was not a Pro-Life candidate. However, his positions on some pro-life issues were superior [approx. .5% of all abortions would be eliminated under SB's disapproval of PBA] to his allegedly Catholic opponent." The rest of his article is written in (what I would deem) excitement over a "Republican" taking Ted's blue seat. Glad to have you back, Deacon, in full pro-life swing.

Just checked the weather in D.C. It looks not *too* bad if the rain holds off. 37 degrees, feels like 29. We've got family there. I hope they get some cool pictures.

From your link:
Deacon Keith Fournier: "There is no other group of human persons whom we allow to be killed under the cover of 'choice'.

Science has confirmed what our consciences have always known, abortion is morally wrong. We now reach within the womb and routinely operate upon them to save their lives. We prosecute the aggressor... who, in the commission of... another crime, kills them as well.

We know the truth; abortion is the intentional killing of a human person."

Abortion on demand types often say “why don't pro-life people want to support the child after it is born, if they care so much?”

There's a lot wrong with that statement. But I often turn it on its head: how can a society that doesn't care about human beings at their earliest stages of development claim to truly care about them at any later stage of life?

I think everyone understands a situation where the mother's life is in danger and hard choices have to be made. But at the other end of the spectrum, the idea of “no one wants this child anyway, and it will have a bad life” could be applied to many other groups. We could empty out the prisons, mental hospitals, homeless shelters, retirement homes and other institutions pretty fast with that “logic.” Some would say it has happened already in other places and times, and that it is starting to happen here too. I find that “reasoning” grotesque, and sad.

"Our nation-wide policy of abortion on demand through all nine months of pregnancy was neither voted for by our people, nor enacted by our legislators--not a single state had such unrestricted abortion before the Supreme Court decreed it to be national policy in 1973. [It was] "an act of raw judicial power"...

"Make no mistake, abortion-on-demand is not a right granted by the Constitution. Nowhere do the plain words of the Constitution even hint at a "right" so sweeping as to permit abortion up to the time the child is ready to be born."

"We cannot diminish the value of one category of human life--the unborn--without diminishing the value of all human life."

"Abraham Lincoln recognized that we could not survive as a free land when some men could decide that others were not fit to be free and should therefore be slaves. Likewise, we cannot survive as a free nation when some men decide that others are not fit to live and should be abandoned to abortion or infanticide. My Administration is dedicated to the preservation of America as a free land, and there is no cause more important for preserving that freedom than affirming the transcendent right to life of all human beings, the right without which no other rights have any meaning."

~ President Ronald Reagan : "Abortion and the Conscience of the Nation", 1983

I’m at the youth Mass at the Verizon Center now. We’re just finishing, getting ready to go to the march down on the National Mall. Will try to post more later.
