Congressional Democrats stunned out of silence by Scott Browns victory in Massachusetts say theyre done swallowing their anger with President Barack Obama and ready to go public with their gripes.
If the sentiment isnt quite heads-must-roll, its getting there.
Hill Democrats are demanding that Obamas brain trust especially senior adviser David Axelrod and chief of staff Rahm Emanuel shelve their grand legislative ambitions to focus on the economic issues that will determine the fates of shaky Democratic majorities in both houses.
And they want the White House to step up quickly to help shape the partys message and steer it through the wreckage of health care reform.
The administration has got to be in the forefront now, instead of throwing some meat on the track and seeing what the House can work out, said New Jersey Rep. Bill Pascrell, expressing the frustrations also voiced by about two dozen Democratic elected officials and aides interviewed by POLITICO.
I havent seen Rahm Emanuel except on television. We used to see him a lot; Id like him to come out from behind his desk and meet with the common folk, added Pascrell.
What happened was they got so caught up in all these other issues like health care and cap and trade and all this other stuff, that because of that they maybe didnt put enough focus on the economy, said Minnesota Rep. Collin Peterson, a moderate who represents a conservative, rural district hard-hit by the economic crisis.
The White House would not comment for this story.

Hey Congress!!!!! Too late.
And how do they plan to focus on the economic issues? With more of what got them into trouble with their "grand legislative ambitions."
“the common folk”
I just love it when politicians look down their noses at me and refer to me as one of the common folk.
“...Id like him to come out from behind his desk and meet with the common folk, added Pascrell”
In this case, “common folk” translates into Congressional Primadonnas who have their of golden hand shake retirement plans (complete with left over campaign cash) and their own health care plans that are above any law they would thrust upon us.
Ha, he was saying that, he himself (politicians) are “ common folk” which is a even bigger joke, because real common folk aren’t even considered.
Typical Democrat response - blame someone else even if that Democrat. This is what happens when a political party runs on a platform that doesn’t acknowledge personal responsibility.
Ah geeze, you’re right—I read it wrong. That’s even more eye-roll inducing. :)
Too many czars spoil the stew.
Unfortunately for the Dems and our economy, all of BO’s steps to date will only damage the economy. And the latest “bank tax” is going to hurt more. What is he thinking?

That’s going to be “EX-Representative Peterson” by this time next year.
I imagine Rahmbo Dead Fish will be gone by summer.
I’m not so sure that Rahm will be gone. Obama has already shown us that he is spineless. He hasn’t dismissed anyone of consequence from his administration-not Napolitano, or anyone behind the WH gate crashers. If Emmanuel goes, it will be because he wants to go.
Someone needs to inform Congress that they are reponsible for the budget, not the White House.
RE is on record as saying that health care with a public option was a non-starter, yet he got overruled somehow along the way. He must be feeling pretty smug now that he has been proven right. That may give him even more sway in future agenda setting.
Agreed. How wise is it to demean an honorable man who's well armed and has a cultural history of deposing tyrants?
It's working, folks. The concept and the reality and the sheer power of the Tea Party movement, whether in or alongside or outside the Republican Party, is sinking in to the elite consciousness.
And all liberals are getting the message that, politically, they need to be afraid. Very afraid.
Actually, I think he was being sarcastic about Rahm’s apparent view that he doesn’t need to mix with the little people, such as congresscritters, any more.
I think Rahm may try to run for the seat now held by Burris.
