In the news today, GW Bush endorsed Hutchison. This follows Chaney and other inside-the-beltway types endorsing Hutchison against Perry. IMHO, this is absolutely NOT the type of endorsements that Hutchison needs. Right now, in Texas, the sentiment is extremely anti-Washington, and the mood is "kick the ******ds out". All this is doing is further typing Kay Bailey to the Washington mess.
I wonder if the endorsements are truly endorsements for her or if they're reading the tea leaves and deciding that an endorsement for her actually supports Perry more.
I despise them all, and trust them NOT
George P. Bush endorsed Marco Rubio - but who is he to endorse anyone?
I will still support Marco, despite the Bush endorsement.
And KBH *isn’t* a slimy politician? She got her panties in a twist because McCain picked Palin and didn’t even glance her way. She a big government RINO with no sense of fiscal restraint at all.
Cut the meds by half, dear.
Hutchison has run a really stupid campaign. Getting all these endorsements from Washington insiders is typical of the kind of left-footed, sophomoric mistakes she’s been making. Even if I thought her superior to Perry, I wouldn’t vote for her because I don’t think she’s up to a campaign against Bill White, mayor of Houston and her likely Democratic opponent.
Your reasoning made me burst out laughing. Couldn’t believe the endorsements but then Bush 41 endorsing someone would never change my vote.
KBH is too moderate to liberal to be Governor of TX IMHO — in fact I wasn’t too impressed with her the first time she ran when we lived in Texas and haven’t changed my mind. It was a special election and her Dem opponent was the worst and dullest speaker in the history of politics.
How so? Again, I have no love for Perry, but Hutchison has not been an outstanding senator and she votes to the right of the Maine twins only because she is smart enough to know her constituency. Speaking of, my guess is that she has been put up to this by big wigs who are opposed to the big wigs who Perry favors. And White likewise is supported by another clique. Maybe I should vote for Medina.
Perry meddles in my college (Texas A&M) business tooo much. People think Perry wants to be president of A&M one day (that is if he doesn’t run for US president). KBH would stay out of it. I don’t like what he did with Gaurdisil.
I don’t like the guy.
And De Witt Clinton was in favor of the Erie Canal and was a slimy politician. Lots of farmers were pushed out of the way when the railroads came through in the 19th Century I can understand why people were upset by the disregard for property rights, but “big” ideas like this are sometimes the way to go. In any case, Don’t forget that the governorship is still relatively speaking, a weak office. Don’t think that Perry was just this dictator making it all happened. He’s a front man.
She gets good conservative ratings. She’s more conservative than a lot of senators.

However, she has made some mis-steps lately.
Personally, I think both Perry and Hutchison have been in politics too long, but they are both better than any democrat running.
I wonder whom Susan Combs is supporting?
Wish she’d run....
Actually, that’s probably my problem with both Hutchison and Perry. They put their fingers out and go where the wind blows them. People can buy them off.
Say what you will about Bush, but you always knew where he stood on things and it didn’t matter if people were opposed to him. He did what he thought was right. I think Palin is the same way, and it sure seems Scott Brown is like that also. Neither Perry or Hutchison are like that.
She’s a conservative because she has to be to get elected. I certainly don’t like it that she is pro-choice. Of course, so is Laura Bush, but I didn’t like her defense of Roe v. Wade at the debate. Yes, the repeal of Roe v. Wade would probably invalidate some good things such as federal prohibition of late term abortions. But the important thing is that it would denationalize the debate. I don’t like the central government making social policy, and that includes the federal courts.
Well, you can vote for Medina, although hard to say if she has the right stuff. Maybe she will show something at the next debate.
It just seems to me, that legalization would open the borders even further to the drug lords in Mexico. That is where my concern lies. Didn’t Mexico try to legalize some drugs lately..and it only resulted in an escalation in crime? So, as I said, Medina’s stance worries me on that subject.
No need to put out the welcome mat.
Debra Medina. Forget the phonies
Sadly, I’m pretty sure to be in politics...you have to be a phony.
We’ve come a long way, baby, to get where we’ve got to today.
And I don't trust KBH’s motive for forcing her way into a race there was very little public demand for.
We've got 2 moderate republicans who are going to embarrass themselves during the primary by trying to out-conservative each other.
I lost my patience with Kay when I sent an email to her office and urged her to not vote for the stimulus package,I could see where this was going, increased state spending on unemployment benefits, more socialist medicaid, higher taxes and all that crap!!!
Then when I got a email back from her office ,after she voted for it!
I lost my temper (in brief) her email said I was an idiot,I didn’t understand the big picture, she knew best and my concerns were moot. Now I don’t think she is a bad person, but!!!
Do I want a player in DC’s games running my state. Not just no, but hell no!
