Yesterday local Philly radio host Dom Girodano was in Washington DC to do a retrospective on Obama's first year. Coincidentally, it was the first day after Scott Brown's big win and so there was that added drama. His first guests on the show were Arlen Specter and Michelle Bachman, who were on together. Holy smokes, those two don't like each other even a little bit!
Based on that interview, I'd say Specter is in panic mode. He attacked Bachman by saying "Well, what did YOU vote for?" as if voting for something, anything, even something horrible, proves you are thoughtful and effective. Poor guy, chose the wrong time to finally admit he's a dem!
But he did make one interesting comment. He claimed that Ben Nelson was successful in getting the Senate healthcare bill changed so that the government doesn't cover it but the compromise was that if you want an abortion and you can pay for it yourself, she's still allowed to do that. "So what's wrong with a woman who pays for her own abortion being allowed to do that", asked Arlen (I paraphrase). It caused me to wonder "Wait, is he saying that the Senate bill would mostly prohibit private citizens from paying for their own procedures if they want them and insurance doesn't cover them, but abortion is the one exception?"
Sounds to me like he’s ready for a death panel (young lady !).
When I read the First HC Bill (about 1600 pages) there was wording in there that would inhibit paying for any procedure.
I asked a few friends to read that portion and they agreed that you can’t pay for medical services.
Don’t know if it’s in the current version but I’ll bet it is.
Is it just me, or is Specter channeling Gandalf, or what?!
I would just love to be the next person to get into a heated debate with Arlen, say in the run-up to election, and the first time he starts in just a little too quickly . . .well, it doesn’t take a genius to know what retort would put this Pig in his place.
