With the nation still mired in a deep recession that has millions of Americans experiencing economic ruin, the Obama administration marked Barack Obama's one-year anniversary as president by displaying a photograph of First Lady Michelle Obama wearing a $2,763 designer coat as the 'White House photo of the day' on the front page of WhiteHouse.gov.

Nola Weinstein, Fashion Editor for Glam.com noted that Michelle Obama was wearing a "mat lurex Moschino coat with a matching cap sleeve dress from the brand's Pre-Spring 2010 collection."
Sharon Haver at FocusOnStyle.com gushed over the outfit, calling it "very Camelot-ish".
Haver noted that Moschino sent out a copy of the White House photo with the bragging caption:
Moschino is pleased to announce that First Lady Michelle Obama wore a mat lurex Moschino coat with a matching cap sleeve dress while celebrating the year anniversary of the inauguration at the White House.

The Obama's are not shy about lavishly spending exhorbitant amounts money on themselves in the midst of the worst recession since the Great Depression.
The First Couple took a ten-day Hawaii vacation over Christmas and New Year's where they stayed at a $4000 per day $8.9 million estate. Michelle Obama was photographed wearing $635 per pair shoes while out for dinner in Hawaii.
A recent study of five pairs of footwear worn by Michelle Obama shows an average price of $700 per pair.
It could not be readily determined how much the matching dress for the $2763 Moschino coat is selling for.
A woman lucky enough to have a job in this economy that pays the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour would have to work nearly 380 hours without taxes withheld to be able to afford Michelle Obama's Moschino coat seen on the front page of the White House Web site as the Obama's photo of the day.
And it’s a schmatte. Spend a few bucks more and get a decent fur.
Unless they changed the law, she isn’t allowed to accept such gifts. The democrats came down on Nancy Reagan for accepting apparel gifts, so the law was extended to the White House.
U.G.L.Y. the coat aint got no alibi..
It’s just UGLY..
Really? Then I guess it would be good to find out ‘how’ she got the outfit. Hmm. Didn’t sound like the designer was surprised.
That thing costs $2,763?
Man, she got taken!
Is Bill Clinton there waiting for his coffee?
You know, to really be a snob, you have to have something to be snobbish about. He’s a con-snob!
Every dog I’ve ever owned has had more class than our current First Lady. As a kid in Nogales, I once caught a gila monster that was better attired in its natural skin than she is in her $700 shoes and thousands of dollars outfits. She’s the class of third world backwater dictatorship wives.
Well, just goes to show that recessions, unemployment, belt-tightening, and sacrifices are for "the little people." Nice to see our elitist leaders are taking it in stride.
Not only that, but she really doesn't have much fashion sense whatsoever. When she went to the G8 last year in Rome, she dressed so badly she looked like the hired help, or like some rube just in from the sticks:
The best expression is that of Mara Carfagna, on the right as you look at the image, who seems utterly incredulous that someone would have brought the nanny to such a first-order photo-op. Filippa Reinfeldt, in the centre, is doing a pretty decent job of putting on that self-effacing sense of Scandinavian tact, but she still looks as if she's covertly trying to figure out who "dealt it." The most poised, of course, is Margarita Zavala, the wife of the Mexican President; considering that she has to put up with effing ugly Yankees - usually of the worst liberal sort - all the time at home, I'm not surprised that she was able to retain her composure so well - protocol violations like the one Michelle is wearing just have to be par for the course if you're from Mexico or Canada.
You’re absolutely right. You can’t buy class.
LOLOL
Remember Michelle Pfeiffer at the end of “One Fine Day”?
Why, that’s just a $2,763 CLOTH coat, isn’t it?
Designers have SERIOUSLY run out of ideas. Moschino has just copied Chanel......and added length. Nothing new.
Butt-ugly, if you ask me!
Good pt.
