With the nation still mired in a deep recession that has millions of Americans experiencing economic ruin, the Obama administration marked Barack Obama's one-year anniversary as president by displaying a photograph of First Lady Michelle Obama wearing a $2,763 designer coat as the 'White House photo of the day' on the front page of WhiteHouse.gov.

Nola Weinstein, Fashion Editor for Glam.com noted that Michelle Obama was wearing a "mat lurex Moschino coat with a matching cap sleeve dress from the brand's Pre-Spring 2010 collection."
Sharon Haver at FocusOnStyle.com gushed over the outfit, calling it "very Camelot-ish".
Haver noted that Moschino sent out a copy of the White House photo with the bragging caption:
Moschino is pleased to announce that First Lady Michelle Obama wore a mat lurex Moschino coat with a matching cap sleeve dress while celebrating the year anniversary of the inauguration at the White House.

The Obama's are not shy about lavishly spending exhorbitant amounts money on themselves in the midst of the worst recession since the Great Depression.
The First Couple took a ten-day Hawaii vacation over Christmas and New Year's where they stayed at a $4000 per day $8.9 million estate. Michelle Obama was photographed wearing $635 per pair shoes while out for dinner in Hawaii.
A recent study of five pairs of footwear worn by Michelle Obama shows an average price of $700 per pair.
It could not be readily determined how much the matching dress for the $2763 Moschino coat is selling for.
A woman lucky enough to have a job in this economy that pays the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour would have to work nearly 380 hours without taxes withheld to be able to afford Michelle Obama's Moschino coat seen on the front page of the White House Web site as the Obama's photo of the day.
Somehow this reminds me of Danny Ortega, “man of the people and leader of the Sandinista people’s revolution” (did I really just say that?) when he visited the UN in 1985. And stops by a yuppie eyeglass boutique on the Upper East Side for a pair of $4000 eyeglasses. Leader of the common man. Riiiiight! A far lefty neighbor could not believe it when I showed that to him.
I see they don’t make one for extra long wookie arms.
They know they are there for only one term. They are going all out to play the part of royalty. 3 parties a week, $40,000 a week vacations, hundreds of thousands on clothes....
Maggie is just sharp...One of FRs best investigators.
Hey! Isn't today wagyu Wednesday?
LOL! BTW. I’ll bet you anything she doesn’t know how to pronounce it. I used to sell the line in the UK at a boutique. It was one of the favorite designers of gypsies. It became like ‘Burberry’ to the ‘Chavs’.
Finally, a bathrobe with fishing gear and worm pockets. It’s no wonder it costs so much.
“I hope nobody thinks that Michelle actually ‘bought’ any of this stuff.”
Since the designer announced it and showed the photo I suppose there’s the chance that they gave her the outfit. THAT boggles my mind, it does.
Bouclé! Uh oh, that explains the choice of Bo. The poor dog had better watch out... Michella de Vil is going to be wanting yet another coat.
It's all the rage in Vogue and Glamour for Wookies.
Somebody was ripped off for 3k and I'm thinking it's us taxpayers.
LOL
Sure ya do!
;0)
Mrs Obama is CLUELESS about fashion, and about what a statement she is making by wearing a coat with a price tag that could feed a family for awhile.
We hear you Ms Obama..and pretty soon, you and your idiot husband will hear from all of US!
bump
Well, to be fair, we pay Obama like $400 grand a year plus free room, board and travel.
I’m sure they have tons of disposable income.
Naw...
I am sure she paid for it from her savings.
I could retire on what has been spent on her wardrobe for this year alone!
There are some women whose grace and carriage would make them look great in a Salvation Army find. And then there are others who put on an outrageously expensive outfit and look like they grabbed it from a thrift store bin.
That’s a $63 coat with $2,700 of extra fugly.
UGLY!!!!!! They forgot the word ugly!!
