WASHINGTON -- Like the rest of the Democratic Party, Georgia's congressional Democrats are feeling shock waves from the stunning Republican win in Massachusetts.
Some Democratic U.S. House members called the upset by Senator-elect Scott Brown a sign that they need to change their campaign strategies and how they do their jobs.
At least one, U.S. Rep. David Scott of Atlanta, bucked his party's leadership by suggesting it may be time for Democrats to drop their plans for health care to focus more on the economy.
"This is a clarion call for us to focus like a laser on the economy," Scott said Wednesday. "People can't focus on health care if they don't have jobs or if they're being foreclosed on. We've got to recalibrate and refocus on jobs."
Democratic U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson of Lithonia, who is facing a potentially tough re-election fight, said Brown's victory convinced him and other Democrats that they need to do a better job of reaching out to Republicans and others.
"It's a wake-up call for Democrats to consider the views of all constituents," he said.

I think the Dems are all in a vice.. They all voted for this before they are going to vote againt it a la Kerry. And they hope this will get their fat out of the fire but the problems they all have is that we will all remember this not only in 2010 but 2012 as well and conservatives need to keep this drum beat going loud and strong.
Throw out some cheese - they’ll come back.
They’re trying to weasel out of it - DON’T LET THEM. If they voted once for Obama care, they are guilty and should suffer reprisals.
Lasers are not focused, they are coherent.
And “recalibrate”?
These morons no longer understand English.
Remove them all.
ditto! that they thought it was okay to ignore their constituents before last night's election shows who they really are...
Me thinks that Brown and Scott don’t want to lose their jobs.
"It's a wake-up call for Democrats to consider the views of all constituents," he said.
Too late.
So sad...
Too bad...
They should have put a little more thought into what they have set out to do. Now we will not be satisfied until EVERY single one of them no longer holds office!
This is by no means DONE. If anything, commiecrats and RINOs beware... It is just the beginning....
They’re just trying to cover their asses. Their jobs are more important to them than the welfare of their country — RATS and RINOs alike.
I will do what I did the last time with Scott. He is my Congressman (the horror). I have never voted for him nor will I ever.
They believe in nothing. They are sellout political whores whose vote is for sale to the highest bidder. Now they want to stay on their precious gravy train.
They ain’t getting off the hook that easy! We have records of their votes.
Wasn’t there a video from a town hall last summer of Scott behaving like the southend of a northbound donkey?
Wasn’t he the one (or one of the congress members)who was rude and condescending to his constituents?
“I vas only following DNC orders!”
“Georgia’s congressional Democrats are feeling shock waves from the stunning Republican win in Massachusetts”
Corrected version: “Georgia’s congressional Commucrats are feeling shock waves from the stunning Republican win in Massachusetts.”
That’s right, Rats, close that barn door.
Throw these bums out and bring them up on charges!
They are all traitors against our Constitution!
Corrected Corrected version: "Georgia's congressional Commucrats are feeling intestinal craps and shock waves from the stunning Republican win in Massachusetts."
Yes, he’s the one who accused a questioner of being an outsider not a real constituent. Turns out the man he screamed at is a doctor and a registered dem.
craps should be cramps, but hey, it sort of works...
