Palin to campaign for McCain in March
CNN ^

Posted on 01/20/2010 10:29:12 AM PST by Def Conservative

As Sen. John McCain readies for a potential primary challenge from the right this fall, the Arizona Republican is playing his trump card.

Sarah Palin, McCain's former running mate and perhaps the most powerful brand in Republican politics, will stump for McCain in Arizona on March 26 and 27, a Palin adviser told CNN. The presence of Palin - and the considerable crowds and media attention she will draw - might give pause to J.D. Hayworth, the former Republican congressman and radio host who opposes McCain's position on illegal immigration and is mulling a Senate run of his own.

I’d like to know his numbers in Arizona..is McCain leading. Is Hayworth even running. If he is not running and its just McCain against the Dem, yeah, as bad as McCain is, I’d take him anyday over a Dem.

I have not seen any AZ polls posted.

JD Hayworth has not declared.

McCain has one challenger that I know about: Chris Simcox.

She has to support McCain because to do anything else would be to throw her own credibility under the bus.

So fidelity to John McCain trumps fidelity to conservative principles?

Say it ain’t so!!! I hope this proves to be a false rumor, or else Sarah Palin will lose all credibility among conservatives.

I think he’s a one issue (good issue-anti-amnesty) candidate with little financing. IIRC, he was previously associated with the Minute Men but there were some difficulties.

To date, McCain does not have a serious challenger within the party.

All it shows is that she's loyal and understands politics. You might not agree with what she's doing, but you have to trust she knows what she's doing it.

Everyone will be a disappointment over some issue, at some point, the important thing is to pick someone whose judgement and dedication you trust and then know that the decisions they make are for good reasons. If every decision you (not you personally) disagree with is a deal-breaker, you're too politically fragile to participate.

“Yes, I did read your comments and asked you for a clarification. Evidently that is not allowed.”

It’s not just allowed, it’s welcome. I said no; and I thought that the explanation was pretty detailed in the other posts. Sorry if it came across as rude; it was not intentional.

And, any character or scandal issues?

And he may not either, for this reason (from the CNN article):

The presence of Palin - and the considerable crowds and media attention she will draw - might give pause to J.D. Hayworth

It's perfidy!

If you wanted true fidelity to “principles”, then what you really want was for her to have turned down the VP nomination in 08. Is that what you want?

Because in 2008 she spent months telling us how great a president McCain would make, is that being true to “conservative principles”?

She also archly insinuated that there were many issues with which she and McCain disagreed.

What happened to that Sarah Palin?

JD Hayworth has been “mulling” a run for a good many weeks, or is it “months” now?

It's “now or never” time for JD and Sarah shouldn't stop him. JD has Sheriff Joe on his side.

What, is Palin now saying she agrees 100% with McCain on everything?

So what’s changed?

Endorsement (noun) Approval; sanction

You tell me what Palin's endorsement of McCain means...

It is not a bad move on her part. She looks generous and gracious. McCain's selection of Palin for VP launched her nationally. This is her payback to him in spite of how rotten a bunch of backstabbing she has received from McCain's staff.

People will know this and those going to see her appearances for McCain likely will be more interested in her than McCain, just like the election.

Agree 100% Most conservatives want to get rid of McCain, not help him. Sarah will ruin her political career if she backs him, whether he wins or loses. She doesn’t owe him anything. He didn’t begin defending her until the damage was done.
