Palin to hit 2010 trail (for McCain! Talk about loyalty)
Politico ^ | 1/20/2010 | Ben Smith

Posted on 01/20/2010 6:29:26 AM PST by GOP_Resurrected

Former Gov. Sarah Palin will announce today that she's hitting the campaign trail for Republicans -- including her former running mate John McCain.

Palin, who did not campaign in last year's governor's races or in yesterday's Senate race in Massachusetts, has committed to contests in three states, including two Republican primaries, an aide said.

She'll campaign in Texas for Gov. Rick Perry, who faces a primary challenge from Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison; she'll appear in Arizona for Senator John McCain, who faces a challenge from the right; and she'll appear in Minnesota for Rep. Michelle Bachmann, a conservative firebrand who has emerged as a national figure.

In a statement set to appear on her Facebook page, Palin promises to campaign "FOR the people and AGAINST politics as usual."

She cites the Massachusetts contest as "a clear indication of things to come and a demonstration of the momentum we all share in the fight for the values and policies that will get our country back to work," promising to campaign for "the commonsense conservative principles of liberty and fiscal responsibility."

Palin's return to electoral politics -- and to primary politics in particularly -- suggests that she isn't content merely to be a media figure with her new Fox News contract, but intends to be active in shaping the Republican Party in her own image. Her full statement is after the jump.

Statement from Sarah Palin

Title: Ride the Tide with Commonsense Candidates!

I want to again thank the good people of Massachusetts for propelling a commonsense, independent agenda forward! May the working man and woman feel empowered now more than ever to get involved in their government, and let's put this great country on the right track. The past year continues to offer the promise of commonsense government in so many areas. There are steps we can all take to get there, one of which is to support candidates who promise to fight FOR the people and AGAINST politics as usual. I'm excited to get out and help elect candidates who will bring those principles to our nation's towns, state houses, and directly to Washington D.C. We are already making plans to support the candidates our nation needs to make a difference and speak for everyday Americans. I look forward to helping Governors like Rick Perry in Texas, Representatives like Michele Bachmann in Minnesota, and heroes and statesmen like Senator John McCain. We will support these candidates and others so that they can continue to fight for our American values. The special election yesterday in Massachusetts was truly amazing. It is a clear indication of things to come and a demonstration of the momentum we all share in the fight for the values and policies that will get our country back to work. The commonsense conservative principles of liberty and fiscal responsibility are on the rise, and that's why I'm going out and campaigning as hard as I can to make a difference. I can't wait to join all of you in supporting these great candidates and many more over the coming months. In the meantime, visit the websites of Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann, and John McCain. And join us as we embark on America's journey to November!

John McCain owes any success to the last election to Sarah. John would have had only 30% of the vote without her. He would not even be able to run to regain his seat if she had not been there. Sarah pull his butt out of the fire.

Also John did not defend Sarah after the election when he was on television. McCain has no honor and does not deserve any support. McCain swings with the tide and has no backbone.

Palin demonstrates her loyalty to McCain rather than to the conservative cause? J.D. Hayworth, Conservative is a good man. How can she defend the compassionate rhino with his support for amnesty against a solid conservative? Maybe there was good justification for when Beck asked her if she is someone whom we can trust.

In light of recent events, this is a great move, since McCain is lately , and FINALLY, sounding Palin-esque.

Sarah doesn’t need us to defend her for dancing with the one who brought her.
She said she didn’t campaign for Brown because Brown didn’t ask her, so McCain probably asked her.

As I’ve said for months (and for which I’ve been ruthlessly attacked and disparaged in the most profane and vile way), Palin is a politician playing the game and always has been from Wasila to the VP.

My main objection has been her ardent supporters attempts to place her on a pedestal so high that the rest of us couldn’t hold her feet to the fire if needed.

Hopefully, this endorsement of McCain will prove to people that she is in fact human and capable of faults and mistakes, and when that happens we must hold her accountable just as we would and have, for any other pol.

This proves she is capable of holding party/loyalty/personal desires over principle and those that have claimed it would never happen can now go eat your crow.

BTW - Get used to it, it’s going to happen again.

Depends on how you define “conservative.” If your definition of that label extends to pro-abortion RomneyCare backing politicians like Scott Brown, as it obviously does for Sarah Palin and her cheering section, then the title doesn’t mean much any more.

If your line is drawn somewhere so far left that it will encompass a Scott Brown, there really isn’t any line that’s worth much. It will include anyone and anything if the pressures of political expediency dictate.

The aides didn't do right by McCain either.

McCain might have had a case of Washingtonitis but it looks like he's getting over it, and he's not a bad guy.

And I really, really wish he won.

She can’t just go a piss off every sitting Republican senator and expect to raise the kind of money that Mittens is raising and compete with him on television

Well, if she can't, or won't, then our constitutional republic is whirling down the drain before our eyes faster than I thought. What you're essentially saying is that there is no way to overcome the amount of money that D.C. special interests and lobbyists shower senators with. I submit that throwing money at a political campaign has a point of diminishing returns, especially if you aren't addressing and acting to resolve conservative voters' concerns

Base Republicans need to get real politics, real soon.

Yes, they do. Tea party groups are about to whip the GOP's sorry ass into submission one candidate at a time, with or without Palin's help.

Boggling...but she must know what she’s doing.

She’s a better person, obviously. Understands loyalty and integrity...and politics, evidently.

I sure as hell don’t...

“Sarah doesn’t need us to defend her for dancing with the one who brought her.”

Except that dance ended last November. This is a whole new party and Palin seems to have made a politically calculated decision to dance with “the one who brung her then abruptly kicked her to the curb.”

Palin owes McCain nothing at this point but she shrewdly decided to back one of the biggest RINO’s in the Senate even though it runs smack in the face of what she preaches because it is politically expedient for her.

Et tu Sarah?

Sarah!, Sarah!!, Sarah!!! TELL ME IT AIN'T SO! We in Arizona have worked tirelessly to remove John McCain because of his stand on the border, progressive supporting legislation, lack of loyalty to the citizens of Arizona and overall rudeness.

This past weekend, Maricopa County (Phoenix) Republicans met in convention and defeated McCain delegates so as to take control of the organization thus paving the way for JD Hayworth to run.

McCain is in a panic mode, running foolish radio ads hourly against JD Hayworth (still a private citizen).

Sarah, PLEASE do not visit Arizona on behalf of McCain. It will damage your reputation among the growing conservative movement who want McCain out of office.

Loyalty to the man wbo picked her equals disloyalty to her supporters. Whatever personal feelings he has about McCain, she should have separated them from what is best for the country. McCain is not. I would have no problem with her supporting him in the general election, but why now, in the primary?

I think this appearance will, and should, cost her an enormous amount of her credibility. She said that she is not a republican as much as she wants to take back our country. Why support McCain, who fought for the presidency with great ambivalence against Obama and delegitimized the most urgent arguments that he could have raised against him.

You see shrewd & calculating, I see gracious & magnanimous.
In Sarah's party, the dance doesn't end because you say so.

A couple weeks ago I posted an article asking Palinistas what excuses would they have if Palin endorsed McCain...let's see how many of them (bolded) have already been employed on this thread.

2) If Sarah says supporting RINO's is okay, that's good enough for me. The Messiah is infallible and what do I know?.

3) She's not being inconsistent, she's making a tactical retreat, but hey that's politics.

4) A smart move by the smartest woman in the world.

5) She didn't want to but the dims threatened to file an ethics complaint if she didn't.

6) She's not endorsing, she's reloading. (edited)

7) What endorsement? That wasn't an endorsement she was repaying a political favor. Everyone does it.

8) That was part of her master plan to make dims and the MSM fear her even more...if that's even possible.

9) C'mon, McCain wasn't THAT bad...

10) Who cares? Look at those LEGS!

Would you praise her loyalty if she were a young doctor who referred her patient to an incompetent specialist because that specialist had written her a recommendation to get into medical school?

McCain is the old specialist and we are the patient.
