Company Launches New Compact Pistol and Revolver with Integrated Laser System

Smith & Wesson® Holding Corporation (Nasdaq Global Select: SWHC), parent company of Smith & Wesson Corp., the legendary 158-year-old company in the global business of safety, security, protection and sport, announced today the introduction of company's newest line of firearms designed for personal protection – the Smith & Wesson BODYGUARDS. The BODYGUARD 380 semi-automatic pistol and BODYGUARD 38 revolver have been designed in conjunction with Insight Technology®, a leader in the laser optics field, to offer consumers a new and uniquely engineered, lightweight, self-defense firearm with built-in laser sights.

Debuted this week at the 2010 Shooting Hunting & Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, the BODYGUARDS combine the latest advancements in laser technologies with Smith & Wesson's innovative design and manufacturing capabilities. The new BODYGUARD line features a uniquely designed compact frame, an integrated INSIGHT laser and several other new high-tech advantages.

"Throughout the development of the BODYGUARDS, our engineers and product managers worked closely with end users to design and produce an innovative line of personal protection firearms," said Michael Golden, CEO of Smith & Wesson Corp., a division of Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation. "Both the BODYGUARD 380 pistol and the BODYGUARD 38 revolver have been built with state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques. Each provides a reliable and logical choice for those seeking a firearm for personal protection. In addition, our engineers worked closely with Insight Technology to design an integrated laser that not only improves target acquisition but also reduces the price of this technology so more customers can afford to use laser sighting systems. We are very pleased with the positive feedback we have received on the new BODYGUARD line from the numerous retailers and media professionals at the 2010 SHOT Show."

If you want discreet super comfortable carry all day long the only choice is Super Tuck Deluxe from CROSSBREED

Thanks for the link. I see they have the mini tuck for a Walther PPS, and I've been looking for something for mine.

My P245 loves my Crossbreed. But I also carry it in a Blade-Tech IWB as well.

Taurus 709 SLIM 9mm

Oh, I've had my eye on that one. Got a shiny new CC permit. My problem is HOW to carry, being a slender woman who hates carrying a purse and would lose it anyway.

My small wife (101 lbs) carries in the same silhouette belt slide as me and loves it. She has a “concealed carry” purse but I advise against carrying that way because if a bad guy gets your purse, he has your weapon.

Oh good, thanks for the recommend. I’ll check that out.

And Roger that on the purse. Just seems like a bad idea to purse-carry.

LOL, I’m such a dork. I thought OWB was a brand name, now I learn through the universal font of knowlege (Google) that it means over-the-waistband :-)

What brand does you wife use?

Have you experimented firing your .357 from inside a old jacket? The reason I ask is because I have a Ruger SP101 .357/38 spl with a 3” barrel. With 357 it throws an enormous fireball. I would think a small fire extinguisher would be needed after firing from inside a coat :)

Taurus 709 SLIM holster?

Triple K is what she (and I use). Any holster that will fit the Taurus Millennium or Millennium Pro or similar weapon will work. Try it out.

For my 1911, I use Galco’s Royal Guard with a The Wilderness Instructor’s belt. Don’t forget to offset it with a magazine pouch on your weak side.

No, I haven’t. It would depend on your jacket I suppose. My thought on it is this however, if it’s life or death and that’s my best/only option, I’m taking it and I’ll worry about the consequences later. What matters is that it is an option and more options are always better than few.

the hammerless feature allows it to be emptied from/through your jacket pocket

It kicks harder than my .500 magnum though.

Definitely don't want to fire it from your pants pocket.........
