The White House says it hasnt given up on getting Senator Olympia Snowe, Republican of Maine, to vote in favor of a health care overhaul.
Were still working hard on that, Robert Gibbs, President Obamas press secretary, told reporters Tuesday at his regular daily briefing, when asked why the White House hadnt worked harder to secure Ms. Snowes vote.
Mr. Obama had a lengthy telephone conversation with Ms. Snowe on Friday, but Mr. Gibbs did not provide details.
And with the fate of the health care overhaul hanging on the outcome of Tuesdays special election for the Senate in Massachusetts, Mr. Gibbs conceded that the president and his advisers had not been able to fully convince Americans that the measure was a good idea.

Wow. Good thing Reid went and spent about five minutes of on air time insulting her and saying how negotiating with her was a total waste of time. It's always good to insult someone before you inform them that you desperately need them to fall on their sword for you. Since if a dem can't get elected in Mass because she supports Obamacare, I'm sure a RINO in Maine will fare much better.

Pay no attention, Olympia, to Coakley's head on a spike in neighboring, and even more liberal, Massachusetts.

Been waiting for this angle. Yep, me too and I posted as much a couple of times only to be told that "Snowe wouldn't dare, after today's election".
Yes, she would. The price is just not right yet.

The white hut team is delusional imagining they can turn a senator from Maine if the Kennedy seat goes to a Republican candidate in the more liberal state to the south.
They may be RINO's, but they read polls.

Okay, Gibby, you work hard on that.
I’m sure they’re pulling out the stops, threats, etc. but it should be clear to any Republican they would not want to face the wrath of the Patriots in this Nation should they turn traitor and vote for this, or any item, on the Marxist Agenda.

I too have posted the Maine girls cannot be trusted.
So far they have been allowed to hide, but if needed, what will they do?

Snowe will go wherever Obama leads her. She's a dunce. All he has to do is promise fame and fortune, make her feel like it's all about her, and viola, she's in his camp.

Toss up here. The admin has certainly wasted a whole lot of capital by keep pushing this health care - I’m torn between just watching the implosion and fear that this nightmare will actually pass.

Olympia Snowe will NOT iote for the healthcare bill.If she did so, there would be no place in country where she could safely live.
Politicians are universally shocked at America’s rejection of the “Death Care” bill.

Over the past two or three years, every time that the RNC sends me a request for money, I send it back the same way, in bright red letters, the number ZERO in the box marked “Donation,” and the words “Olympia Snowe” written in the “Other” column.
If Brown wins tonight, and Snowe decides to switch her vote, the worse thing that could EVER happen to that woman would not be good enough for me.
