If Democrat Martha Coakley loses todays special Senate election in Massachusetts, some White House and Senate aides have determined that getting the House to pass the Senate health care bill unchanged is their last best hope for victory on President Barack Obamas signature issue.
If so, the president is likely to lose the one vestige of bipartisanship on the health care issue. Rep. Anh Joseph Cao of Louisiana, the lone Republican vote for the health care overhaul on either end of the Capitol, will not vote for the Senate bill, Cao spokeswoman Princella Smith said this morning. The language roping federal funds away from abortion services is not sufficient.
Its a complete deal breaker with him if theres not sufficient language to protect the lives of the unborn, said Smith, citing her bosss beliefs, his training as a Catholic priest and his role as adviser to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. The Senate version does not have that sufficient language.

....I guess Cao didn’t much like the e-mail I sent him after his last vote — heh heh..............
Great news!
Good. But Cao is still out of a job after the primaries.
Good for you. Sadly stinking RINOs Newt and Dede helped elect a Democrat in NY-23 with the RINO local GOP in NY-23. That one vote may have been crucial.
Cao has a certain charm to him, and if a Scott Brown can win in Massachusetts maybe Joseph Cao can hold on in New Orleans.
His vote would only void the claim of bi-partisanship. It will not stop acceptance of the Senate bill. Gotta have some Rats turn on Nazi for that.
Since Katrina, NO isn't quite the "chocolate city" it used to be. And a LOT of the NO blacks are Catholics, and no supporters of abortion.
Must be worried about re-election.
He is a devout Catholic who is against abortions.
