This Is Real Political Hope (Stow MA Mock Election: Brown 62%, Coakley 29%)
National Review ^ | 1/19/2010 | Kathryn Jean Lopez

From a mom in Democratic country:

My daughter just got back from middle school, in Stow, MA. They had a mock vote. Brown 62% and Coakley 29%. This from a school that had over 90% mock vote for Obama in 2008.

And:

Dear KLo,

Hey, if Brown wins in Massachusetts (taking Kennedy’s Senate seat in the process), does that mean that the Republicans will have a chance of taking Obama’s Senate seat (now held by the disgusting Burris) in Illinois?

Yes! Brown’s victory, if it happens, will give hope that even in this very blue state (because its politics is completely dominated by Chicago), the “Land of Lincoln” (our first Republican president) might be able to throw off the leftist shackles and send a Republican to the Senate. Give us hope, Massachusetts!

Amen. May Massachusetts restore hope to America tonight!

Of course, this being liberal massachussetts, it’s possible that some part of the electorate things voting against “Brown” would be racist.

Lots of reporters in my family. All of us at one time or the other arraigned or reported on a mock election at an elementary school.

I can’t recall any of them ever being wrong or even far off.

Kerry was re-elected in 2008. He won't stand again until 2014.

Well, Republicans are more likely to be parents and eschew abortion, so this result is skewed, but I’ve heard the seat in IL could go GOP, too - sure would be an improvement over what they have there now.

A large turnout better presage a real Dem switch to Brown because if it is not, then the Dems may steal this one . I hope that 25% of Dems will go Brown because Indies, Reagan Dems and Libertarians are going for Brown and then that would be a tsunami . It would affect many other Senate races as well as some House races. Many seats that are Purple could go Red and that would blow up Obamacare.

The Illinois seat now held by the cretinous Roland Burris could very well go to a Republican in November, but it will be a RINO of the first magnitude. Illinois has moved too far to the left to elect a conservative to the US Senate.
