Could old George be the new Brown?

A new Siena poll shows that former New York Gov. George Pataki, who left office with the popularity of week-old lox, would sweep past Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand by an impressive 51-percent-to-38-percent margin.

The poll marks the first time any New York Senate candidate has broken through the magical 50 percent threshold — and also marks the first time Gillibrand, who was appointed by Gov. David Paterson a year ago, finds her disapprovals outpolling her positives.

I hope he runs. I heard him on Fox the night of the VA, NJ and Newt/Dede screwing NY-23. He was very good.

Pataki is a RINO, but he’ll be an improvement over Gillibrand!

Better for us if he runs and beats Schumer instead of Gillibrand.

Interesting. IIRC, Pataki tended to be liberal on social issues but more conservative on things like fighting crime and spending. Wouldn’t want him as my Presidential candidate, but I could live with him as Senator instead of Gilly-whatsherface.

Now, if we could only find someone to return Chucky Schumer to the private sector...

I have a feeling there will be several “Browns” in the November elections.

I sort of view Pataki and Rudy as RINO-Lites compared to Juan McCain, Crist, Mel Martinez and Graham-nesty. The later mega-sellouts make my skin crawl.

Pataki has always been a fantastic campaigner. He would be an excellent, experienced candidate who could win in NY. He could beat Gillibrand who is wishy washy and way too far left.

Gillibrand probably will not be the Dem candidate in November. I think Harold Ford Jr. is going to challenge her in the Primary and my money would be on him.

Schumer's too entrenched and his constituents like him.

Return him to the private sector? HE NEVBER HAD A JOB IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR! Chuck Schumer was elected to the NY Assembly in 1974, one year before he passed the NY Bar. He is a political HACK. Like Joe Biden and Barak H. Obama he has NEVER had a job that required anything other than flapping his gums and being a pompous ass.

You said the magic words!

I would support him as a senator but not as a President...I wish some people could understand this...

In 1994, Jim Sasser of TN appeared invincible... and an obscure heart surgeon, Bill Frist, beat him in a landslide. In the right political climate, anything can happen.

I don’t think that Pataki would be an improvement for Republicans. These Rinos are like cancer.
