The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 27% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-nine percent (39%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -12 (see trends).
Fifty-seven percent (57%) of liberals Strongly Approve while 65% of conservatives Strongly Disapprove. Among political moderates, 32% Strongly Approve and 23% Strongly Disapprove (see other recent demographic highlights).
Just 38% of voters nationwide now support the health care plan working its way through Congress. That matches the lowest level of support yet measured.
The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates are also available on Twitter and Facebook.
Rasmussen Reports is pleased to note that we now have more than 20,000 people following us on Twitter. We look forward to watching that number grow throughout 2010 and to providing our Twitter audience with up-to-the-minute coverage of the election season.
Overall, 47% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Fifty-two percent (52%) disapprove.

Has anyone else noted how the Rasmussen numbers have “improved” for Obama since the White House took them to task and accused them of juggling the numbers?
About 3 weeks or so ago the WH read Rasmussen the riot act and the numbers have settled into the 12-15 range rather than the 18-20 range.
Hmmmmm.

"There WILL be payback!"
So much for Gallup.
I imagine his trying to look presidential following the quake in Haiti has helped a bit. Whenever people sense his is not trying to hurt them as much as usual, his ratings improve.
I also have noticed this...bears checking into.
An interesting idea! We'll see in a few days whether what some are now calling The Scott Heard 'Round the World pushes the Index one way or another. If moves in Big Ø's favor, then your hypothesis will look very good.
But if the Index goes further down into negative territory, then it probably would signal that the recent slight uptrend has been no more than a temporary artifact, due to the "Haitian Bounce."
(I expect the Index to stay ca. -12 for the next two or three days. Any "Massachusettes Miracle" effect probably can't show up at least until Thursday, when Wednesday night's raw data will be fed into the 3-day moving average.)
