Harrison Ford has come under fire from the mayor of Chicago after wading into a debate about the city's former airport, with the politician calling the actor "elitist."...

Da Mayor could call Ford an overpaid hack actor who stumbles about Jackson, Wy drunk and unruly and running his mouth.
Harrison Ford way back was not a real lib as he was a carpenter before star wars and american graffitti. He became a lib later. LOL! Love it. He deserves it.
Totally and completely off topic, but 45 years ago today I joined Uncle Sam’s family. Took a bus to Cleveland and a train to Fort Knox, and that was the beginning of my great adventure.
Thanks to all veterans and their supporters.
GO BROWN
Wait, the Royal Blood Line of Chicago Mayors calls Harrison Ford an elitist? That’s rich or should I say regal.
"And if I want to illegally-bulldoze an airport at midnight, stranding dozens of airplanes, I will. I'm the mayor."
Thank you for your service!
Nothing elitist about that, right?
For those who don’t know (or care about) Chicago history, Richie had the city illegally deploy bulldozers in the middle of the night to destroy the runways on Meigs Field - a callous display of raw political power in action unusually blatant even by Chicago standards.
The city was eventually fined by somebody for that episode - of course Daley gets off scot-free, while the citizenry pay the piper with their taxes (not that they’re blameless, of course - they elected the idiot).
My favorite Harrison Ford quote is, “The greatest threat to human rights is economic opportunity.” Having said that, he is correct on Meigs Field. He could, and should, make a movie about that, with the bulldozers coming in and carving big Xs in the runway. I bet he could make it a good movie.
What the heck did the idiot actor say to get the ex-mayor so riled up?
Daley’s arrogance is beyond astounding.
My Flight Simulator version is so old that I can still take off and land at Meigs. Braaaack to Mayor Daly.
Ford who was decent in the Star Wars and Indiana Jones stuff has since been reduced to sensitive, teary-eyed, sniveling girlie-man roles that are unwatchable. He almost makes Richard Gere’s characters seem manly.
The article says this happened in 2003. Does Ford have slow reflexes now? ;-)
I wonder how many jobs were lost after Miegs Field was destroyed?
The mayor didn’t care about the guys who weren’t able to get their planes out after he carved up the runway.
As an MS Flight Simulator fanatic for many years, I was ticked off when they closed down Meigs Field. Meigs Field was the “home” airport for MSFS from version one of the sim, which came out around 1978 (When it was published by SubLogic), and continued as the home airport until FS 2004 was released.
The airport was a landmark for pilots around Chicago for years. Ford is from Park Ridge, which is a northwest suburb. My wife’s grandfather was Supt. of Schools there where Ford and also Hillary graduated from. Ford’s a local boy.
Harrison Ford's advocacy of general aviation causes earns him a little street cred with me (EAA Young Eagles, GA Serves America). I keep hoping I'll run into him (figuratively) in the Idaho backcountry one of these days and have the opportunity to try and talk some political sense into the guy.
