I imagine the search and rescue teams are being told to stand down because there is no equipment to rescue the trapped victims.

THIS IS GOING TO SOUND HORRIBLE BUT I WONDER WHETHER THE UN WOULD LIKE THERE TO BE MASSIVE DEATH IN HAITI? THE UN IS NOT PARTICULARLY DEATH-ADVERSE AND THE “ETHNIC CLEANSING” (ANOTHER NAME FOR MASS MURDER) MIGHT ALLOW THE UN TO PARCEL OUT WHAT COULD BE A PRETTY NICE PIECE OF REAL ESTATE.
