I just think this is a harbinger of things to come in elections worldwide. France and Germany have already moved to the right (still left by our standards, but you gotta start somewhere), England will soon be Conservative, and I see the US Congressional elections becoming a tsunami for the GOP in spite of the leadership.
My theory about that is, there are enough people in the world who remember the feeling they had when the Berlin Wall fell and the Iron Curtain fell, and suddenly remember it was the Right that made this happen. Plus, what they're seeing from Leftist oppression and tyranny (see Chavez and Castro), and many Central and South Americans are going to vote rightward.

Take that Hugo!
Good news.
May it surely be a harbinger of a tsunami to come...surely we need such a wave in the worst way -
God is at work - and so is the enemy of our souls, the prince of this world.
However, the evil one is on a leash....thanks be to God who IS sovereign and in control, all praise and honor be to His Holy Name!

Colombia and Mexico have already moved to the right. If one day Chavez’s oil fields dried up, they’re in trouble.

I expect he was helped not only by the domestic politics of Chile, but also by what the Chileans saw going on just across the mountains in Argentina; which is led by political fellow travelers of Chile’s outgoing party.

Chile is the most prosperous country in South America and the third most prosperous in the Western Hemisphere behind US and Canada. It has a growing middle class and the standard of living has improved for all classes.
This progress has been made since the country made a commitment to free market capitalism. The other countries in South America and North America should take notice of what's happened in this country. I've heard that Chile is a good place for vacation. It has wonderful scenery and excellent food. I hope to travel there soon. I try to buy as much from Chile as I can. I buy Chilean Wine (which is excellent) and produce which is available during the winter months which is their summer. The prosperity in Chile will do more for South America than anything else we can do. Other countries will have to follow suit or just be left in the dust.

The pre-election polls said it was 1.5% lead for the good guys. It is about 3%. So pretty accurate.

It’s my great joy to be able to do so - by His mercy and grace towards me. We all must remember God’s sovereignty - all the time but, it seems, especially in times like this.
