Amid the rash of appeals for Haiti donations has come a call from one of the most prominent voices on the American right for people to hang on to their cash because Barack Obama might steal it.
Rush Limbaugh, the most popular radio talkshow host, who is sometimes described as the real leader of the Republican party, says Americans should not give a penny to a population struggling for survival after the earthquake.
Limbaugh agreed with a caller suspicious that the White House website was being used to direct funds to the American Red Cross. "Would you trust the money's gonna go to Haiti?" the caller asked. Limbaugh then said Obama was exploiting the disaster for political ends.
"This [the earthquake] will play right into Obama's hands," said Limbaugh. "He's humanitarian, compassionate. They'll use this to burnish their, shall we say, credibility with the black community both light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country. This is made to order for them."
Limbaugh also warned Americans against donating money. "Besides, we've already donated to Haiti. It's called the US income tax," he said.

He is a troll. This crap has already started over on Sarah’s FB page trying to cite her as a racist. They are too easy to spot now by citing a biased and contrived news report and then denegrating the object of the report.
I spent several weeks over on Glenn’s FB Fans page and learned their tactics there.
This is nothing more than orchestrated despiration.
Since you post articles from lefty sources and commiserate with them, WITHOUT knowing the facts, you are simply not informed.
Boy, did you ever get snookered.
You should just turn in your FReeper card and zot yourself.
Nothing new there.
Because that’s what the caller was talking about.
Justin of Raleigh, North Carolina: “Why does Obama say if you want to donate some money, you could go to whitehouse.gov to direct you how to do so? If I wanted to donate to the Red Cross, why do I have to go to the White House page to donate?”
Limbaugh: “Exactly. Would you trust the money’s gonna go to Haiti?”
Justin: “No.”
Rush: “But would you trust that your name’s gonna end up on a mailing list for the Obama people to start asking you for campaign donations for him and other causes?”
Justin: “Absolutely!”
Limbaugh: “Absolutely!”
Stop looking to be offended.
If he said that it would make conservatives look bad, but he didn’t say that. He said don’t donate through whitehouse.gov because does anyone believe it will get where its supposed to go? The crack about light and dark skinned was a tweak at the Harry Reid comment. He even said that all the MSM would take that one comment and attach it to him, then chastise him for it when he was repeating what Reid said. Face it, no matter what he says the MSM will twist it to make conservatives look bad. You seem to be playing into their hands.
Conservatives don’t make us look bad. People who accept lies about what they didn’t say make us look bad. This article is a direct and well documented lie. Check Rush’s website. I heard the program and he never made that statement. He did recommend that you be sure of your Charity before making a commitment. That is prudent advice.
Come on. You know the drill. Certain conservatives say something. The media twists it. And then inevitably someone says that Rush, or whoever, having said such a thing makes conservatives look bad.
Rush suggested that we not donate money to Haiti VIA OBAMA.
Rush never said this. I think the freepers are witnessing the beginning of "the Messiah's" alinskyite tactics against truth tellers in cyberspace and talkradio.
This spreading the seeds of doubt and trying to get people pissed off. Trash such as this makes me wonder if I'll have to call up more talk radio to counter such garbage.
Sadly the country is so corrupt the aid will probably never get to the earthquake victims.
“However, he never said that.
He said not to send it to the .gov website. Rather send it to private organizations helping Haiti.”
Very true.
And since when is Limbaugh a “shock jock?” Rush occasionally makes bold statements, but he’s clearly not out there to shock.
as I watch the Haiti coverage two words come to mind :
BIRTH CONTROL
“If this is all he said (I do not listen to RL so would not know), then why say anything at all?”
Because a caller asked. He does have a show to do.
I think I confused the Guardian with the Telegraph.
We are donating through our parish.
I would give to Salvation Army or my parish only.
I don’t trust many others.
Nice strawman, but nobody said you weren't.
You tried to post a lie as news and got called on it.
Rush clearly said multiple times to donate to private charities helping Haiti.
Sounds like you're describing trolls, not freepers.
