JANUARY 14--The Haiti earthquake has already triggered hundreds of thousands of donations to musician Wyclef Jean's charitable foundation, which expects to raise upwards of $1 million a day in the disaster's wake. However, Internal Revenue Service records show the group has a lackluster history of accounting for its finances, and that the organization has paid the performer and his business partner at least $410,000 for rent, production services, and Jean's appearance at a benefit concert.

I will probably give to flbaptist.org, an organization that has had boots on the ground in Haiti for several decades. I trust them.

"You can't put a show together without a production," Jean said in the video, apparently referring to a $100,000 payment to his recording studio for a benefit concert performance. "You need lights, you need a stage. . . . You need a tour manager. . . . I never, never would ever take money for my personal pocket when it comes to Yele."

In the video, Jean asks viewers to watch footage of him working with victims and decide "whether Wyclef is truth or not."

Wyclef Jean To Co-host Hope For Haiti Telethon With Clooney

George Clooney has found a co-host for the upcoming “Hope for Haiti” telethon scheduled for next week, and it’s none other than Haitian-born musician/activist Wyclef Jean.

The 37-year-old has been at the forefront of seeking support for the devastated people of Haiti ever since a magnitude 7.0 earthquake rocked the country earlier this past week. It’s reported that Clooney will host from LA, Wyclef from New York City, and CNN’s Anderson Cooper from Haiti. The two-hour special will air commercial-free at 8 p.m. on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, CNN, BET, the CW, HBO, MTV, VH1 and CMT.

Tiger Woods to donate $3 mn to Haiti

Golfer Tiger Woods is set to rescue his good name by donating $3 million to Wyclef Jean’s Yele Foundation in an effort to create a mobile hospital in earthquake-hit Haiti.

According to rap mogul Russell Simmons, Woods is considering donation so that it would help send doctors and supplies to Haiti to deal with the aftermath of the earthquake, reports dailystar.co.uk.

“Tiger Woods is working on sending a mobile hospital in Haiti,” said Simmons. Simmons has called on various celebrities to join the relief effort.

According to the New York Times, one Virginia-based organization reviewing the group’s tax returns found that its expenses exceeded its revenues by $411,000 in 2007. Another group looked at the Foundation’s tax return and found that it had given more than $400,000 to Jean and a business partner for concert services.

This doesn’t surprise me. I always felt there was something untrustworthy about Wyclef Jean.

Me to. I gave a bit of cash to the Red Cross, but our school distrct is donating shoes for children in Haiti. I have plenty old ones to donate. I trust our school district. We did so much for Katrina victims.
