The crowd began to run, but not away. Hundreds poured across the highway and down a rutted dirt road to a rocky field along the shore, where a collapsed blue sloop listed in the surf.
The prop wash from the landing choppers kicked up grit and small rocks. The people kept running. They piled up at each copter door as the rotors wound down, grabbing and shouting words that the crews surely didn't understand.
The Americans didn't fly off, or open fire. They handed out boxes of bottled water.
When they had finished, they told everyone to back away, which they did, and flew off.

Still, Haiti's hopes are always aimed at the U.S.

What if Soros unregulated Hedge Fund, with deposits located in drug havens like the Caymen Islands and his Colombian banks, was all a front for money laundering? Nobody really knows where his money is coming from or going to.

I wouldn't call it "bastardized French", that's a little stiff. It's a patois, fairly common in the Caribbean, but French based instead of English based.
My very fluent French-speaking friend had a hard time making herself understood to Creole speakers.

On FOX News tonight they had a “Live report” from on board one of the USMC’s landing craft that was launching a flock of choppers, and I noticed what was surely a “Huey” looking sort of dwarfed by the SH60s and such hovering around like a hummingbird amidst all the scurry.
“What the H— is THAT old antique doing there?!” I wondered - those things have gotta be at least 40 years old!
I really didn’t think that we had any of them still flying in active duty any more.
For an aircraft that wasn’t even supposed to be able to fly, it sure has been one of America’s most versatile and reliable machines for quite a while now.
I’m glad to see them finally airlifting in some of the aid to the people that need it rather than letting it rot at the airport while the victims starve to death because of incompetent bureaucrats.
Obama’s Secretary of Defense wouldn’t allow air drops of supplies because he was afraid that it would cause “riots” with people fighting over stuff.
Sure; so let ‘em starve to death instead while everybody plays Mongolian clusterfuddle at the airport and back at Command Central...
And this nincompoop is in charge of defending America?

The Hueys from the USS Carl Vinson are most likely some of the UH-1Y Venom, which is an upgrade of the older UH-1N model.

We worked for many years on developing that upgrade along with the AH-1Z, which is even meaner than the AH-1W, for the Navy/Marines.

I believe that the USMC still uses an updated UH-1N and is now starting to deploy the UH-1Y..... although whether any are now in Haiti or not, I have no idea.

1) Miami-Dade County has an ordinance that all businesses must provide translations into Spanish and "Creole". Sort-of-French, with much use of the letter "K" ("K" goes largely unused in Spanish).
2) Even those Haitians employed by Monroe County can't be understood in English.

3) Announcements in Miami Department stores are made in Spanish. (China—followed by India—is shortly to become the largest English-speaking country!)

I am not saying that illegal immigration from Haiti or anywhere else is a good thing. I am saying that it is incorrect to state that Haiti and Haitians HATE America and Americans.
And to suggest that the Dominican Republic is some sort of paradise is ridiculous. There are thousand and thousands of Dominicans here illegally. Living in squalor in NYC and no doubt other big cities. If their home country was paradise they wouldn’t be here.
The reporter could have just written “helicopters,” or he could have taken a few extra minutes and found out what they actually were. Instead, he tried to sound like he knew what he was talking about. IMO, superficial knowledge is the biggest problem with that profession.
