Impressed with his energy and with hopes for his independence, we support Scott Brown in the special election for U.S. Senate.

Although we do not agree with Brown's position on health care reform, voters should consider the whole package when they go to the polls Tuesday.

And when we took a closer look at Brown and his platform, we liked what we saw.

Brown is an independent Republican who supports President Obama's strategy in Afghanistan. He supports women's right to choose, though he opposes partial-birth abortion and believes in strong parental notification laws.

On issues important to Cape Cod, he opposes the wind factory on Nantucket Sound, unlike Martha Coakley. If elected, he said he would work hard to bolster the tourism-based economy on Cape Cod and the Islands.

And unlike many conservative Republicans, he supports environmental protection and the permanent preservation of precious open spaces.

In order to reduce the nation's dependence on foreign oil, Brown supports "reasonable and appropriate development of alternative energy," such as wind, solar, nuclear, geothermal and improved hydroelectric facilities.

Brown also brings to the race a perspective that no other candidate can claim: As a lieutenant colonel in the Army National Guard, he is uniquely aware of the importance and sacrifice of our men and women serving in the armed forces

This is really great stuff when the Cape Cod Paper Endorses Scott Brown! Is there a GOD? Yes! there is. I bet the Rat's are now getting read for their dose of poison.

This publication has honored the late Sen. Kennedy by endorsing Scott Brown for his former senate seat.

Life can only get better when Scott wins on Tuesday.

I wonder if the lef has already counted Teddy's own absentee ballot :-)

How nice of the Cape Cod Times to look past Scott's opposition to partial birth abortion to endorse him over Martha Coakley.

A valuable teachable moment here for moderate RINOs who seek to court liberal votes by espousing radical views on abortion and similar atrocities.

I do think this is a very good development.

I do think however that on a broader social level and with regard to the larger movement we need to start stigmatizing the media for its idea that everything is fine as long as the person is not a “conservative Republican.” There needs to be a way to say “conservative is not only okay— its good.”

Brown is actually pretty conservative as far as such a term might apply in Mass.

Nonetheless, I think FR and tea party types need to develop a meme that conservatives have not really had an opportunity to govern. Our society has for some time been controlled by opinion leaders that basically shame all interests of conservative Republicans.

Whether fiscal discipline or abortion, the nation has not actually experienced the governance of conservatives. We are the standing alternative to Republican/Democrat governance as usual. Reagan governed alone but never really had a conservative Congress. Bush had fleeting conservative power in the Congress. Bush’s primary difficulties and the nation came with the Democratic congressional landslide in 2006. That precipitated the worst economic downturn since the depression.

Democratic and public governance in America has for some time been predicated less on liberal versus conservative and more upon conservative rejectionism. We can do any public policy as long as conservatives object to it.

That irrational logic must be broken.
