Nawww, it moves more than that. It moves Presidents and aircraft carriers. It moves people to fill and ship packages. And the donors are not chopped liver. Money moves it all.
There is the need to draw viewers, sell newspapers, enhance reputations.
That's how TV works. That's what keeps it up and running and people watching. People that watch are people who might donate. ;-)
So, which one is true? Or are both true?
I think both are true. From what I have seen I think a lot of those people don't feel they have any responsibility to help out. There are also many who are helping and confusion is reigning over it all at this time.
The credit goes to you for thinking of that because I had not. As big as this disaster is I think it is very valid.
No flames. Ditto all of that.
Thanks.
I’m off to bed now. I have enjoyed our conversations.
Thank you. I have too.
My 12-year old daughter was wondering why the reporter was getting in there and helping on one of the segments we were watching. (Repeat stuff and trying to mute or change channels if things get too graphic).
I told her that is a hard one for me too sometimes. I told her though that that is their job, to get the news out. And in turn that gives people like us an idea of what is going on, and we can direct some money and our prayers to these poor folks down in Haiti. And I have heard of a few cases where they have pitched in a little bit to help (a granola bar to a little girl, some water, a helping hand, etc.).
I had a baby one back in the 50’s,,,bout a foot long,,,
Mom made me let it go,,,
Helping somebody is one thing,,,
Demanding or stealing what others own is another,,,
We have about 3 months worth of everything we need to
just “fort up” and stay home if there is a SHTF moment here.
I’ve been on the edge of two riots here back in the 90’s,,,
Many places were looted and burned,,,
Cedar Grove and Lakeside,,,
A friend lost his store in Cedar Grove,,,
There was the “King” riots,,,Loot-n-Burn,,,
Then Katrina,,,same thing,,,Loot-n-Burn,,,
Now Haiti :

It always seems to be “Gimmie,Gimmie It’s Fo’ My Chulderns”!
I see it as each of us has our part. They trained to be reporters. Navy medics trained to give medical treatment. Engineers trained to build and move things and so on.
The pilots just fly in and out most of the time and don't have to get dirty or go down dangerous streets and we don't expect them to. It might seem easier to say we could do without the reporters but not the pilots. But if this story didn't generate a lot of empathy in a lot of couch potatoes there wouldn't be much economic or political capital to keep those planes flying in.
Unfortunately it is the very basis of socialism and communism that has gained so much popularity. Disasters bring out its true nature in full force. Pure selfishness.
“The entitlement mentality has become very widespread and it is deadly poisonous to the mind and the heart. It is death itself to any spiritual life.”
~~~
Spot On!,,,
I really don’t see much difference between a commie a
socialist or a dem,,,
“If you don’t buy Hellcare we’ll take your money and put
you in jail” sounds like a commie to me,,,
The brite spot in all this is that about 90 million
gun owners keep the ammo makers runnin’ 24/7/365 and they
still can’t catch up after a year...;0)
I also agree about Health Insurance Reform. I think it is, from top to bottom, front to back and inside and out an assault on liberty. You may have seen it before but I just posted again my little treatise on that.
If those in the photo had been looting, their hands were empty, they should have published a pic showing them looting.
No doubt a lot of extortion was going on in Haiti.
Not letting our troops control the airport and then not allowing our troops out in the streets to deliver aid.
Our guys would have to be BEHIND the Haitian troops so it would be clear that Haiti was a sovereign nation.
THIS IS DISGRACEFUL.
Guess they too were being advised by the former governor of Louisiana and Ray Nagin on how to get the most money into their own pockets while people lay dying in the rubble.
The looter has the right shirt on. The looters are learning from the best. What a legacy Obama is already leaving behind.
"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need"?
Cordially,
Come on now, he is just getting his hope and change on.
You can’t blame him for wanting to emulate his “light skinned african american with no negro dialect unless he wants to have one” role model, can you?
No, I didn’t think so.
The media is calling it scavenging, not looting.
Sort of like evac-u-ee and not refugee.
That’s not an Obama T shirt, it is a looter T shirt. The looter is wearing a looter t shirt
You know what Jet I think you found perfect Looter guy here
