I'm not so worried by private orgs like salvation army, catholic charities or even ARC. It's going to take a long time for Haiti to recover (if it ever does), long after the TV cameras are gone.

But obama says the US is going to give $100 million in aid to Haiti. To who? How does that money get passed on to the Haitians if there's no "infrastructure". If Haiti is known for its corruption, I'd be careful. Need to establish some law and order there.

The President is alive. I suspect most of the political class are breathing. What more infrastructure do you need to process cash. Obama understands, he's from Chicago.

You're correct that it would be wise to donate only to clearly reputable charities.

maybe you missed how he also said he wants to bring over a 100,000 to 200,000 of them over here on a 18 month visa which we all know they will never go back.

it should be food, water, water, water, clothing , water, water, but cash, where does it go and how to track it will be hard.
